Back blogging….

Posted by on December 30, 2004  |  No Comments

After reading the news about the tsunami, i felt like the things i was going to blog was going to be mundane and insignificant compared to the suffering and troubles every one was facing. Some people have a non-chalant attitude about it. But i feel worried about it because I have friends who are there and still silent. No signs whether they’re safe or not.

But yeah, heres a what i did for the past few days:

25th – woke up, go to church, Joe called from US, sleep, woke up, went to eat at the Penang restaurant, online for a while, sleep.

26th – woke up, went to Times Square in KL, met up wif Winnie, makan at Kenny Rogers, talk talk talk till puas, went back, sleep, woke up online, sleep

27th, 28th – Sleep, eat, online, sleep, eat, online…u kno d drill

29th – Went out for dinner wif Sids at Chillis…..bleh so full

30th – I did something pretty impulsive today. this is an except from my chatting wif a friend {which explains why the language is lintang-pukang}

i jumpa wif this guy ba ysterday apparently he’s from swak and my fren’s kazen. I’ve only chat wif him twice u kno…pastu terus je jumpa today…we chat this morning and arranged to meet.

So anyway, i had lotsa fun today. he’s a really nice guy…we got lotsa of common interests. i never meet up wif online friends so fast u kno….seriously…first time. den i saw my fren online juz now around midnite. he said he havent met him for like 2 yrs & he warn me to be careful bout him coz he cant be trusted. he ask if he got ask me out again or not….i said no la. den he said, take care of yourself.

Hmm…confusing….

Christmas 2004

Posted by on December 23, 2004  |  No Comments

As a Christian, i do celebrate Christmas.

Every year (prior to this one) Im busy as early as November, organizing, practising, recording, writing scripts, directing. Active in carolling, music team, tamborine dance, sunday school christmas party, christmas eve drama, christmas day drama….and the list goes on. I had make all my cards and spend loads of money buying presents for friends

This year, i decided to take a break. I pulled out of everything. I also didnt feel like doing anything. But its also because I still feel like i dont fit in here. My sisters are doin some perfomance thingy and my dad is putting up signs and stuff for this Christmas bazaar were having somewhere…im not sure. I didnt go shopping to buy christmas gifts or clothes. The only christmasy thing i did was to send out store-bought cards, buy a small present for Lian coz i know he’s sending me a package and buy prezzie for aaron & yapp (that was my sis idea, i juz supply 1/2 d money).

In short, its just going goin to be the simplest Christmas I know.

Oh yeah, my mom bought me a red top for Christmas..according to her, its from Korea so its RM 35 if im not mistaken. So here’s the pic. Click for a bigger pic

…6 am and cant sleep…

Posted by on December 21, 2004  |  No Comments

I slept the whole day yesterday like till 8pm coz i was feeling feverish (read my phlog on the side). Got up, watched a bit of TV then came online, check my mail, blogged, chat and do other stuff.

I wondered if you noticed the little box “Powered by phlogger“? Its this thing i found on Emy‘s blog (get well soon!!) that lets me sms to update. Meaning that if im away from the computer i can still update a little. So make sure to check it out for updates :D

Oh yeah, so i mentioned about 2 packages which i got. One is from Aaron which wasnt a package but a christmas card with music that was post laju-ed. So sweet. Thanks koko!!

The other one is a pack of cookies from Jess. yeap, she baked em herself. I havent eaten home-baked cookies for years (i mean besides the ones i bake myself). Thanks a lot my dear :D i’ll send u something i bake :D….not sure what i’ll bake yet :P maybe gingerbread. Yeah….most probably gingerbread. its ngam for christmas :D

…links and more links…

I registered for flickr tho I havent uploaded pictures yet. :D hehehe!! I have to resize my pics first. I checked out squarespace – its a bloggy thingy – just to see how it works. If im happy with it, i might move last year’s posts from xanga (i’ve got 2 old blogs over there) because i dont like xanga’s interface. There’s this really cool website where u can draw pictures and sent it to people and they can see the steps u took while drawing it. This is a drawing i did for RBJ.

And here’s an interesting website by Alvin. I like the flipping pages thingy!!! I wish i could do something like that :D

…cravings…

I feel like having hard pretzels….mayb i’ll make some today or tomorrow.

Oh yeah, im goin out for lunch with Sids, Pam & Fudu. Hopefully not Nando’s, its doesnt appeal to me anymore :P

.: Review :. The Phantom Of The Opera (repost)

Posted by on December 20, 2004  |  No Comments

I’ve watched it on just now, 8.30pm show at TGV Sunway (One U had no tickets). You can read the online review at the bottom.

…my review…

I found this movie very interesting. Christine (played by Emmy Rossum) has a great voice and her acting is pretty good – except for some parts where she looked really weird when she was supposed to look entralled or possesed. LOL! The actor for Raoul looks a bit too young and boyish tho. And the Phantom was too goodlooking ;)

The songs were great. I especially loved the one Christine and Raoul sang on top of the roof. They are all great singers.

If you’re the type of person who has read the book or seen the musical and liked it, go watch this movie. It deviates slightly from the book and some parts we cut out but its still good. :D Even my parents – who are not into musicals – enjoyed the movie. The only bad thing they said was that the songs were repetitive.

Please do not watch it if you hate musicals. There was this teenage gal behind me who said “oh please dont start singing again!” and when they did start to sing – like every 5 mins – she would start to sigh loudly. I SOOO felt like turning around and saying “You’re watching a MUSICAL for goodness sake! They’re SUPPOSED to be singing it!!”. But of course I didnt coz im too nice.

…POSTED ON 16th Dec 2004 – 4 am…

(Click the pic below to go to the official website)
I so can’t wait to watch this movie. “The Phantom Of The Opera” by Gaston Leraux (sp?). It’s set in the Opera House in France (not so sure if it’s still standing now). Here’s a rewiew from Cinemaonline.com.my

“Emmy Rossum plays Christine Daae, an up-and-coming talent of the opera theatre. Young, pretty, and with a beautiful voice, she is one of the promising ballerinas under Madam Giry’s (Miranda Richardson) tutelage. Just before the company’s big opening night, the two new eager managers, Simon Callow and Ciaran Hinds, find themselves in a fix – their temperamental main soprano Carlotta (played deliciously to the note by Minnie Driver) is having another one of her diva tantrums. The managers have no choice but to thrust Christine into the limelight, and she ends up surprising not just herself but her audience and fellow cast members.

In the enthralled audience is her childhood friend and the theatre’s wealthy patron, the Vicompte Raoul de Chagny (Patrick Wilson). But Raoul is not the only one mesmerized by her lovely voice. The phantom of the opera, a disfigured musical genius who haunts the catacombs of the theatre, is also smitten. Furthermore, he claims personal credit for her fine voice, and proceeds to take Christine under his wing.

Even as Christine is lulled into a drunken euphoria every time the phantom sings to her, she is increasingly drawn to the ravishing Raoul. Initially, her heart cannot betray her ‘Angel of Music’ who has so faithfully trained her voice. However, it doesn’t take long till the two fall in love, much to the furore of the phantom. It is this escalating anger which plays the backdrop to a terrifying tale of intense jealousy, obsession and passion.”

So there we go, a love triangle set in the Victorian-era. I loved the book even after I had to do a book review on it for Academic English last year (carried a major percentage of overall marks). Armed with the full-english-version of The Phantom of The Opera, it took me more or less an hour to read the whole thing (i devour books like I drink water) and 1-2 weeks of analysing the plot, characters, meanings, ect and write a seperate review and re-interprete EACH paragraph (30++ if im not mistaken). Nuts, but worth it, coz i got something like a 17-18 out of 20….bangga lah :P

Oh well, this show opens today (its 5 am Thursday) and I hope I’ll be able to watch it tonight. However i did read reviews that the music/lips coordination was bad. Hmm…..

p/s: in case u were wondering why im up early…well, i was studying for my Business Mgmt paper at 2pm. Then i have an IT paper at 11 am Friday. Just took a break to post this up and then im going back to my books. :D

Rock The World 5

Posted by on December 19, 2004  |  1 Comment

Rock the World is a concert featuring local bands. It was at Stadium Merdeka from 3pm onwards.

I went late to RTW, coz dah anggap it will start late. Sampai around 4.30pm and this band was singing…i didnt like it. Like the lead singer out of tune, then the english oso buruk. In short it was LOUSY. Lucky i didnt remember the name, if not, sure I kutuk habis-habisan.

Anyway, i stayed there listening to other bands: OAG (best :P ), Tempered Mental (nice songs…but not talkative to the crowd), Love Me Butch (reminds me of Hoobastank’s more rock songs), Roots N Boots (not my preferance in music), Republic of Brickfields (reggee style..nice) and 1 or 2 more. All the bands played 3-4 of their songs.

Soooo many ppl. Sesak kat depan stage so i didnt go there. Duduk kat blakang jak.

Then Evenstarr performed Masih, Ruang Di Antara and 2 more songs {which i forgot…sorry!!}. Oh..the MC wrongly pronounce the name as Evanstarr (same thing happened in Titiwangsa during the Bandaraya gig) . Their performance was good…i think quite a number of people heard Masih already. aku terdengar one gal behind me singing along or something like that.

Silas new rambut looks sooo different lah. I like it better while it was long :P den he pakai snowcap & jacket at first den buka, underneath was a black singlet. I thought that that looked pretty bad. Imagine Gurmit Singh (Phua Chu Kang) with his short hair and dyed blond.

I had a great time, even tho sesak habis while entering & panas gila. And some !@#$% purposely brushed against my butt *curses!*
Sayang also coz i didnt get to hear Nice Stupid Playground & Disagree. Nevermind, i did bump into one of the Disagree members tho.

…dinner…

after Evenstarr played, i and Gladys (who was with me at the time) went to KLCC by taxi (too lazy to take Mahameru Monorail to KL Central then LRT to KLCC), costs rm10. And wanted to eat at Sushi King, but there wasnt one (i forgot they revamped the Food Court) so we ate in Chillis instead.

We got chips & salsa (which was bottomless so i think we refilled it for like 4 times) and Fajita Quesadillas. Dictionary.com says it is a dish consisting of strips of marinated meat, poultry, or vegetables that are grilled over an open fire and served in a tortilla, usually with spicy condiments. I say its meat & onions in a round pancake. LOL! Plus fruit juice – which was also bottomless so we tried all the juices: apple, guava, pineapple, tomato, mango. I liked the guava best :P

We were stuffed by then but dessert kept calling our names so we ordered High and Mighty Pie (i think that’s the name) which was vanilla icecream+bits of nuts+bits of candy with an Oreo crust & drizzled with chocolate and caramel…..was absolutly yummy, but too sweet and the two of us couldnt even finish 1 piece. Spent bout RM35/each there (we were celebrating something *private*) and 2 hours there. Yes, we actually sat there eating and talking for 2 hours, from 9.00 pm to 11.00 pm. Could hardly walk by then. We rushed to take the LRT after paying the bill.

…home again…

Kena bising coz we were so late. got back, took a shower, watched “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” on 8TV then came online, check all my mail, check out Joe’s, reply all my forums (evenstarr & RBJ), then blogged.

Now going to sleep….have to wake up early….Zzzzzzzzzz

its like 5am, I live a terrible upside down life….sleep all day (woke up at 2pm) and stay up all nite :P

Finish! Finito! Habis! Over! Zilch!

Posted by on December 17, 2004  |  No Comments

My finals are over. I had two papers. Business Management on Thursday afternoon which im not sure i fully prepared for. IT this morning which I was late for(details below). But going to pass both lar (i hope)

…happy…

Was happy yesterday coz of 3 things:
(1) I finished my hardest paper – it was really tricky and i hope i answered it correctly :S
(2) I’ve bought my tickets to fly back to KK for 2 weeks in Jan using MAS – I hate using Airasia, who cares how cheap it is, not worth the price i should think. No, im not disclosing the details of my flight. :P
(3) My koko sent me a package for Christmas :D – I got a Christmas card, A magnet from Australia (cos he went to Sydney recently) and a small box with quotes and inspirational things to do. Its nice!! Thx Lian :D

…kelam-kabut…

So this morning i woke up around 9.30 am coz my paper was at 11am-12pm. Got an sms around that time from my classmate that the paper was at 10-11am. SHIT!! So i kelam-kabut get ready and rushed outta d house. My uni is like 35-40 mins away and my dad drove like a madman to get there on time. It didnt help when the aforementioned classmate smsed me again saying that the lecturer isnt letting anyone who is late to take the paper. *starts panicking*

Got there at 10.20 am and the lecturer was ok about it. Left the exam hall at 10.35-10.40am. *hears cries of shock in background* Well, the paper was easier than expected. Its 40 Multiple choice questions. Thats it. However, each Q is worth 1% of the overall grade, which is ALOT for someone who always makes careless mistakes (read: me). Oh well….im hoping i score tho :D

wokay, going to take a nap now I so need my sleep!! zzzzzzzzzzzzz

[9 pm]
CHANGED MY LAYOUT….what do u think? Is the text too small??

Im using my sister’s phone for my 016, its hard to get used to her Sony Ericsson T230 phone coz its lagging and the buttons for spacing and symbols are diff :P

But at least i get to use my 016. Only 1 sen/sms for 6 close frens and 3 sens for the rest of the Digi community :P
