Funny how u can SO misunderstood

Posted by on January 5, 2006  |  5 Comments

I sent off an email to a blogger because I was having problems with a blog comment. Me (being stupidly naive) thought there was something up with the Haloscan because a few of my other friends have the same problem, so i emailed the blog owner as follows:

Dear Madam,

I was wondering if your Haloscan comments were in top working order. This is because I have commented numerous times but none of them seem to appear after a day or so. I hope that they were not accidently deleted because I kno that other people gave the exact same comment as mine and were not deleted.

Thank you for your time
~F

And the result was the comment *points at first comment by Ms Intan* Is it just me, or is the writer of the comment…no, not the copy-paste-er…being defensive? Plus, wouldnt the writer of that comment be pissed off at the copy-paste-er for copypasting her comments without her permission?

I dont kno what makes people look at everything in such a negative way so much so that an innocent email is viewed so differently, for example: viewed as a direct accusation or threat or pointing fingers at someone.

Do you think i really CARE whether or not the comment is deleted? I wouldnt give a rat’s ass!! I just wanted to inform the blog owner if there were any problems in her comment box because I had that problem once when using Haloscan. Which is why I dont use it anymore (plus i had a hard time implementing it into my current template)

Oh well, cant help what people think especially if they come from the older generation….

2005 : The past, the memories

Posted by on January 5, 2006  |  2 Comments

I was hanging out with a couple of frens at a fren’s hse on new year’s eve and we had a great time talking and laughing about nasi lemak bungkus, the God complex and gambir Sarawak so many other things.

Anyway, one question that popped up was “what have you achieved in 2005 (besides work/studies)?” After i went back, i was thinking about how so many things has happened to me in the past year that made a significant change in my life.

So what have i actually achieved?

  1. A greater sense of maturity - mixing with older more matured people made me more aware of the complexity of life and learn from other ppl’s experiences
  2. More understanding of the opposite sex - This year I have been dabbling a lot in relationships (mostly with negative results) and my verdict : Its too complicated for me to take interest in it.
  3. Freedom - In late 2005, my parents finally gave up on me trust me enough for me to make my own decisions. They have given me alot of freedom, of which I am very grateful.
  4. A larger group of friends - I’ve learnt to change my mindset about people, prejudices and stereotypes by getting to know more types people that I usually would.
  5. The drive to do my best - Listening to people’s stories make me want to strive to do the best even if it seems impossible at this moment. I want to be successfull, not someone who will look down the road in 40 yrs time and say “Damn! why didnt I do better when I was younger?”
  6. Better Attitude - I’ve learnt to adopt a don’t-care attitude, especially when it comes to ‘what people think’. I realized that you cant change people’s mindset esp if they are some old, overly sensitive, mcm baik sgt makciks so just do your own thing and time will decide who is right.

It probably doesnt look like a lot of achievements to most people but everything mentioned is a big deal in my point of view. To some it might seem silly, nonsense or (God forbid!) insulting.

Come to think of it, 2005 has been an interesting year, full of funny incidents and anecdotes, but dotted with a few low points. Here’s a short summary:

Clubbin 5 nites a row in KK | Hooked up with 1st bf | Getting to know CS group | Getting involved in Yahoo! Chat | Seriously into Blogs & RBJ | Regularly clubbing | Regularly drinking | Breezing thru studies | Had a stalker | Fofular in KL1,KL2, Msia1 | Meeting chatters | Dating chatters | Took a break from clubbing | Attended gatherings | Involved in blogwar | Started my degree | Made lots of meaningful friendships | Breaking up | Made a vow not to date chatters | Broke a few friendships | Stopped chatting | Moved house | Learnt mamak-ing till dawn | Learnt to survive without internet | Re-read every fiction i own | Bought tons of new books | Bogged down with assignments | Made Starbucks my 2nd home | Started Clubbing again | Met 2nd bf | Went out almost every nite with the guys | Drinking more | Stuck to a close circle of friends | Breaking up | Got good results | Holiday with Family

Holiday moliday

I was away on holiday since 23rd Dec until 30 Dec with my family. First we balik kampung to Kuching to celebrate Christmas with my father’s side of the family. It was nostalgic to go back to Kuching after an absence of 1.5 yrs (the last trip only lasted 2 days because I didnt have much holidays). Managed to meet up with Heidi & Isla – went for dinner then stayed over at their place. Went to Bla bla bla Restaurant (yeap, it really is the name of the restaurant) for cakes and tea. really yummy and cheaper than starbucks or kupibin. Came back late at nite on 27th dec.

Then we went to Bali the very next day in the morning. Flight was delayed from 10.30am to 1 pm (airasia, as usual). Finally reached Ngurah Rai International Airport in the evening. We stayed in Holiday Villa in Den Pasar (i think), next to the public beach. Walked down the beach, taking in the sights and sounds, eating lamb satay (small and pedas) and jagung bakar (tasted kering). The next day went sightseeing – volcanic mountains, paddy terraces, markets, palaces. Sadly i forgot to pack my digital camera but we had a 27 exposure disposable cam so we still managed to take a few pics. We managed to walk around in Kuta for a bit, its where the shopping malls and stuff are. There werent many tourists tho.

Almost everything there was much cheaper than over here. Feel rich coz the currency is so small that you’re dealing in thousands. 2500 rupiah is 1 ringgit so the converting was a bit confusing – especially if ur trying to haggle.

Happy New year to all my readers :D
