Iqbal’s trip to KL

Posted by on June 28, 2006  |  7 Comments

Iqbal Iggy, my fren from brunei came to KL for a media trip so Sids & Andre rang me up to ask if I wanted to go out with them to One Utama. They picked me up in the afternoon from my house. I was shocked to see that there was so many people in front. Iggy and Sids (driver) in the front. Then Andre and three of her other KDU frens were all sitting on each other lap at the back. So in total there was 7 of us squeezed into a Hyundai Getz. I can so imagine the looks of people who saw the car :P I miss those Miri and KK days where we would squish everyone together.

We went for lunch at that No 8 place – where it sells japanese-style noodles. I wouldnt call it Ramen because it looks like normal maggi mee. I had something like mee kering with fried dumplings goyza.

After that we went to Lecka-lecka for some dessert – gelato. Andre had creme brulee – which tasted like honey – and baby blue – blue coloured sweetness. i didnt really taste it. Sids had something peachy. I had the berry dreams (i think). Its nice..not overwhelmingly sweet. Oh Iggy belanja. Thank you iggy *huggles*

After that we went to watch “Cars” at GSC. It really enjoyed the movie even tho the cinema was bloody cold. Worth watching it in the cinema. Even tho it might look a bit childish. I kno Erin someone actually cried out loud in the cinema at the touching part :P

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I would be outstation to Seremban tomorrow (and maybe Penang on friday) for a translation job. Kinda nervous coz its the first time I have to do simultaneous translating – meaning that I have to directly translate spoken eng to BM. Would be back in the evenings (because its a day trip only) :P Cant wait for tomorrow nite coz im goin to zouk with my gal pals :D
Shisha Experiment Part II
Posted by on June 24, 2006  |  3 Comments
After our failed shisha Experiment Part 1 on my shisha bottle (it was a bit too small and we werent too sure on how to use it) last month, we decided to try again with Pam’s new shisha bottle which was bigger. {Plus pam was feeling uber annoyed at someone so she wanted to release tension} So we prepared all the utensils and charcoal and stuff.
Pam was in charged of preparing the “shisha stove” by putting flavours inside it and covering it with a piece of foil paper and pricking small holes in it. My job was to start burning the charcoal on the stove. I need to get a proper wire mesh thingy to put over the stove instead of juz putting it straight on top. But we made do with what we had at that moment.
After that we put the charcoal on top of the foil paper and started sucking the hose (that doesnt sound too right) till we could taste some flavour and there was a considerable amount of smoke. Our first attempt was Okay for Pam’s bottle but we didnt put enough flavour so it was rather bland but we were happy coz we managed to get it working. We gave up on my bottle coz it didnt work.
On our second attempt we put the flavour from the small one which was wasnt really burnt and also gathered some bits from the bigger one that wasnt burnt and tried to see whether there was a different taste. It came out too “keras” meaning that it stung the throat and had this bitter taste. Not a good idea. By that time I had this urge to drink so I had a glass of Baileys+Coke. Hmm…tastes juz like cokefloat :P
Our third attempt, we used iced water in the bottle to test out the results. It produced a nice cooling effect (like menthol). We would use iced water again the next time. The fourth attempt was the most perfect one with the best amount of flavour and very smooth. I only had one flavour – grape – so we were pretty bored with it by then :P Nevertheless our experiment was a succes.
So after 4 rounds of shisha and 3 glassed of Baileys+Coke (juz for me of course coz pam doesnt drink), we played around with the camera. Because, what is an outing or activity with Pam if it doesnt have the “cam-whoring session”? Enjoy the pics :D
Rafflesia Chicken Hut
Rojak buah & Pandan Chicken Rice Iced Tea
Pandan Chicken Rice, Rojak buah and yummylicious Iced Tea
One day Pammye and I were deciding where to go for lunch. Then she thought of Rafflesia Chicken Hut in The Mall near PWTC. RCH is really popular in KK, Sabah. The two popular dishes are its Pandan Chicken Rice and Rojak Buah – which has this keropok thingy that I really like :P
Tried out the Iced Tea which tastes almost like the ‘zhen chu nai cha’ – pearl milky tea – minus the “pearls”. Its tea with milk and whipped cream on top. Really yummylicious! RCH at the mall isnt all that nice looking compared to the branches in KK. And it looked rather cramped at the end. But still, we managed to fulfill our RCH cravings.
After eating we headed on to Bangsar to do some eyebrow threading. Pammy wanted to try it for the first time and Im too lazy to pluck my own eyebrows so I leave it to the pros :P After that we were deciding where else to go and we settled for Amcorp Mall because I havent really walked around there. Except to the pool place upstairs and Starbucks – which is really the worst Starbucks I’ve tasted because they dont mix it right.
Went to see all the clothes butiques and all the other shops. Pam bought a really nice white bag for like less than RM50. After that we headed on to her house to pick up some things (because she’s staying over at my house tonite) and rested for a few hours.
The IT expert. NOT!
Posted by on June 23, 2006  |  4 Comments
Its weird how some people think Im an IT expert juz because of the course Im doing. So much so that they expect me to kno anything and everything about computers and the internet. Im not like some people with 10 yrs of IT experience =P. I only know the basics and am very very bad at hardware summore. Anyway, lately people have been asking funny things.
Case Scenario 1
During a conversation with a friend on which highlighter/hair dye colour should she buy. She was asking me for suggestions and tips based on the L’Oreal Couleur Experte website
Her : Ehh what colour do you think I should get?
Me : I think French Eclair is nice la
Her : What do you think of Praline?
Me : Its a bit too blondish dont u think?
Her : Hmm *pauses for a bit* Do you know what Eva Longoria used on her hair?
Me : Don’t kno (I actually didnt even notice her on the first page of the website)
Her : Why you dont know? Cant you find it off the internet?
Me : Huh? How am I supposed to search for it? **
Her : Dunno, ur the internet expert what. You can find anything :P
Me : Aiya…not everything okayyy…..
Case Scenario 2
A conversation I had over Skype with a fren overseas
Fren : Fii!!! I ada masalah ngan laptop I..
Me : huh? apa masalah nye?
Fren : Dier slow dan icon dekat Time tu semua ilang.
Me : Eh apasal plak?
Fren : Tak tau la..dier asyik kuar torchlight je….pastu ‘hang’. Torchlight I rosak kot. Naper ahh?
Me : Apa torchlight-torchlight nih?
Fren : Tak tau la tapi bila buka sesuatu, dier keluar torchlight lama je.
Me : *blur…thinks hard for a bit*
Me : OOHHH……maksud u bila nak nak tunggu loading files or folders tu eh? Icon mcm torchlight tu mencari-cari file?
Fren : Haah, itula torchlight tu
Me : …….*speechless*
Its been a rather interesting day. I was online the whole morning from the night before (coz i couldnt sleep) then around 5.30pm i went to my fren’s place to help him with some website thingy. Spent a few hrs there teaching him and his friend how to code simple HTML and what not.
After that Ms Pammye ajak kuar…at first she said nak gi Summit coz clothes there are cheap. But then we decided to go all the way to Bukit Bintang because its been a while we went down to KL. She bought a really nice and cheap top. As usual i pegi window shopping je :P
We had chicken rice and after that was decided wana go to Planet Hollywood but decided not to and went to Idaman for some shisha instead. Came back around 2am then tgk bola kejap before i fell asleep in front of the tv, with my hand still holding the remote. lol!!
Oh, i found out my results would be out sometime after 5pm today. Wish me all the best :D
Choc cravings & photo editing
Posted by on June 20, 2006  |  2 Comments
I am sooo craving for good, rich chocolate. Melt-in-your-mouth, fattening, almost-as-good-as-sex (ALMOST!), makes-me-extreamly-happy goodness. I lurve all kinds of chocolate – except those cheap tasting malaysian made ones (yucks!!!). However, the two top chocolates that I love are:
Cherry Ripes
Block full of cherries and moist coconut, and smothered in rich Old Gold Dark Chocolate ~ Cadbury Aus
Daim
A Swedish bite-size confection of milk-chocolate-covered crunchy caramel with specks of almonds. Originally made by a company called Freia Marabou, they have been a popular treat in Scandinavia since 1952. The French discovered them by way of IKEA, who was the sole importer for quite a while.
The former is only available in Australia :( Cadbury doesnt export them. The last time i ate one was in 2002 or so when I went holidaying in Brisbane.
Daims are a tad pricy :P
I was bored and was busy downloading brushes for Photoshop CS. Its lots of fun tinkering with the editing of photos. Koreked Nik’s profile coz I had to intro him with Pammylicious and I saw this pic of him with the caption “The Grim and Gritty Streets of Sin City” so I decided to actually make it have that sin city feel. What do u guys think?
Sin City
I needed an “interesting subject” to test my new brushes on so this pic became my mangsa (thanks to Isla who passed me the pic). Raffy is sooo goin to kill me for this~!!Fairy
Mistaken Identities
Posted by on June 19, 2006  |  No Comments
Incident Numero Uno
Some time ago, I was at Idaman with Pam & her KDU frens. Then there was this one guy whom she didnt really know well – I’ll call him Mr I – and whom i had no idea who he was came and sat at the same table. Then somehow or another, we got talking about the CLEO’s Most Eligible Bachelor 2006. One girl, Nana, and I were kutuk-ing about how the guys didnt kno how to answer the questions, gave lame answers, and wasn’t even cute AT ALL. The two of us went on and on, i even went so far as to say “I didnt even buy the magazine that mth coz it was all about the bachelors”.
After that, someone came up and teased Mr I about being one of the Bachelors. OPPSSS!!!! He was sitting at the same table when we were kutuking the bachelors. Nana and I looked at each other with an “oh shit!” expression and we covered up by saying “not all were bad, a few were ok”. Haha!!
Incident Numero Due
Another time I was in Hartamas with Pam, Cass & Pam’s other frens when I sat next to this couple. I was thinking they looked a little familiar but I didn’t put much thought into it. The gal – she introduced herself as Hani – was talking to Cass about shopping and I was half listening coz I was busy watching the game (Netherlands was playing) when I heard something like “Im pretty much on my own the rest of the days so can go shopping and stuff.” I was curious to find out what she was working as coz she had so much free time so I asked “So what do you do?” and she answered “Oh I host a show, its live so I have to go to the studio on Tuesdays” to which I answered “Ohh okay, no wonder u have so much free time” and continued watching the game.
On the way back, after sending Pam’s fren to Shah Alam and Cass to PJ, we were talking about the people that night. Then Pam said, “Did you know who u were sitting next to?” and i was like “no” and she was like, “That’s Yasmin Hani lah” and I was like “Oooo…no wonder she said she was hosting a show. Haha!” Well, what can I say? Its like like i watch TV – I dont even have Astro – and I have no idea who Malaysian celebs are.
Incident Numero Tre
I was chatting with a guy friend online who used to always try to “ajak main” but I always didnt want to. He suddenly had this pic of a lady on his display pic so i said “Eh, siapa makcik tu?” then he juz smiled and went offline. Then a few hours later he came back online, with a different picture, but the same lady’s pic. I couldnt help but msg him and say “lah…gambar janda tu lagi?” and he went offline.
The next day, he was online with a picture of him and that lady side by side. I was already feeling weird at this. This guy friend of mine is 30+ but he looks late 20s. The lady in the pic looks old enough to be his mother auntie – somewhere in early 40s. Seeing their pic together made me think : Oh shit is it his gf? So I asked him straight away “Is she ur gf?” and he answered “yes”. Oh shit!! I juz made some lame joke and didnt know what else to say so juz kept quiet. Haha! Me and my big mouth.
Talk about Mistaken Identities :P
[ Update:] FUck!!! I juz found out that the “makcik” i was kutuk-ing is actually an chat friend of mine from singapore, I even have her on my myspace list. I am SOOOO screwed if her bf told her what I said about her.
Happy Father’s Day
Posted by on June 18, 2006  |  No Comments
This is the man who made my 20-something years of my life a happy one. Someone who could always find a something to cheer me up with in times of trouble. Someone very generous and would always say “Yes” when mommy said no. Someone who loved me unconditionally and trusted me no matter what. Even tho Im not as close as him as I was before, I still love him no matter what. Happy Father’s Day, Dad!!
Football Fever & Kaka
Posted by on June 16, 2006  |  No Comments
I found this new template I really really like. Made some adjustments with it. AM very satisfied with the results tho I havent added the links yet coz im too lazy.
These few days has been filled with mostly football and lepaking with Pammy and her friends. We went over to Hartamas on Sunday night to meet up with the infamous JengPam’s half-arab best fren whom I’ve heard so much about. We brought Cass along (she’s on holiday too). Tot we were juz meeting up with a few people not to mention can cuci mata also at Hartamas Sq.
There was more people that we expected because Jeng invited his friends as well since its his first nite back from Egypt (where he bought a shisha bottle from Pam – gila happy minah tu). Had my first meal of the day – didnt take breakfast or lunch – Spaghetti Alfredo with Salmon. Yummy!! After sending Jeng back to Shah Alam & Cass back to PJ, we met up with arip & poks at Mosin to watch yet another game.
Kaka
I watched the brazil match the other day at home. Didnt join the guys at Mosin this time. Makan popcorn sambil tgk bola best woo. I think Crotia did a good job at defending, it was hard for Brazil to make a goal. BUt of course I dont want to comment much on it. I will comment on something I do know and that is : Kaka was sooo hot hot hot!! Esp the last part where he took off his jersey. Sweet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I downloaded this really cool plug-in/extension for Firefox. Its for instant match updates. As you can see from the screenshot, theres a list of the upcoming games on the left sidebar and the hot news. Then at the Status bar at the bottom it shows the current game and the time. It pops up notifications of Yellow & Red Cards and also Goals and also when its time. Oh and you can also change the skin to the different countries, the one Im using is Brasil (but of course ;))

Joga Firefox extension
Download it here

Football Fever @ Mt Kiara

Posted by on June 11, 2006  |  1 Comment

Yesterday pam and I went to Starbucks (again!) to go online. I think its been like 3-4 days straight that I’ve been there with either her or Poker or both. Damn streamyx at home is still down.

After that we decided to go to Mt Kiara to watch football [England vs Paraguay]. Met up with Nick there. There had a big screen set up and loads of tables and chairs (but felt kinda weird coz we cant order Teh O Ais even tho we were in a mamak-like setting). We had nuggets and ice-cream at halftime. Thanks Nick for the eats :D

After that we continued on to Mosin, TTDI (where else?) to meet up with poks & arip to borak2 and watch the next game [Trinidad & Tobego vs Sweden]. Pam and I were laughing about if Sweden won, we’d go to IKEA because there’s a 10% discount or something like that. Wasnt really concentrating on the game, half talking and half watching. And watching other ppl.

After that, Pam was saying nak balik awal but she got stuck once the Ivory Coast vs Argentina game started. The beginning was a bit slow but the game quickly picked up pace. Ivory Coast did a good job, considering its their first entry. Argentina slacked on the 2nd half. But it was a fun game. (Dont want to comment too much coz later ppl bising coz i dont know the game well *nudge nudge*).

Something really funny happened that night tho. There was this gal who was wearing low-rise-i-can-see-an-inch-of-your-butt-jeans with a tight, pau chung (ko chung or chang? The chinese pulut yg is like a triangle) top with her boobies spilling out. I think she juz got back from clubbing.

She was like walking with a really exaggerated swing out of the kedai mamak, very tonggek and kinda looked weird coz mcm terkedek2 jalan with her high heels. Oh, she also had this proud-bitchy-i-think-im-uber-sexy-so-dont-hate-me look.

She glanced at our table as she walked past and I heard a loud Thud and my (very mean) first thought was “Padan muka!”. But of course I didnt say anything and didnt even look. But all of us had a really good laugh about it afterwards.

Football fever has hit all of us, im juz lucky it started after my exams. hehe~! Have a great week people :D
