Posted by on June 30, 2007  |  3 Comments

Unkel Id over at Bakpo@Blogspot came up with this WONDERFUL idea to do a tag for charity. He’s aiming to collect at least RM100,000 RM10,000 {Edited. Sorry my mistake} by donating RM127 for every blogger who completes this tag before end of July. He’s also planning to organize a lunch and games event at Darul Izzah Orphanage, Bangi on 11 August. • My lepak-and-watch-movie fren is back from kampung. Yey!
  • budak2 kl10 ajak go play bowling tonite at mines -8pm. Wanna go or not? hmmm Leh prektis main b4 this sunday. LOL!

I nearly burst my brain looking for solutions to this problem – googling and browsing tons of websites, posting it in a few forums, and emailing my lecturer non-stop. And with his help, I finally solved the code!

Solutions : Question 1 (a) and (b), Question 1 (c) and Question 2.

I’ve also complete a [tag]flash[/tag] header that I did for this website. This is a low-quality GIF version of it. The real file is a (.swf) Flash file. Very simple and good thing the client was precise in what he wants. He’s very happy with it.

Review : Surf’s Up

Posted by on June 26, 2007  |  1 Comment

Delinn dah mintak review so here goes…

A penguin movie instantly brings to mind Happy Feet, with its adorable Mumble and his dancing feet supported by wonderful singing. However this movie is totally different from Happy Feet, which is technically a musical.

Surf’s Up is a “documentary/reality show style” movie about Cody Maverick (Shia LeBeouf of Even Stevens & Transformers fame) journey from home to the Big Z Memorial Surf Off on Pen Gu Island, Hawaii. The characters in the movie are interviewed as the movie progresses.

“Old footage” from Cody’s childhood

The story starts off with Cody as a child in Shiverpool Antarctica who loves to surf, unlike his other penguin friends and family who are busy collecting fish, and hopes to be like Big Z, the best surfer in the world who died in a surfing accident. He then makes his way to Hawaii for the Big Z Memorial Surf off.

On the way, he makes friends with Chicken Joe (voiced by Jon Heder – Napolean Dynamite & Blades of Glory) who supports him all the way. After a bad accident a few days before the competition, the kind-hearted cute she-penguin Lani (voiced by Zooey Deschanel – Almost Famous) brings him to Geek (voiced by Jeff Bridges), a recluse who lives deep in the jungle away from everyone. They teach him that winning is not everything

I really liked the concept of this movie where you can get the commentary and get to know the movie from all the different viewpoints of the characters. Cody is a typical teenager, rebellious and always think he’s right. Chicken Joe is the comic relief in this movie, hilarious and looks like he’s high on weed or something. LOL! Lani is the “babe” and love interest of Cody (every movie is incomplete without one).

The movie is a feel-good movie – great for bringing the family. Its a typical cartoon movie with all the nilai-nilai moral, great animation and lovable characters. Especially all those baby penguins.

The OST is nice also, with songs like Incubus – Drive (“Whatever tomorrow brings I’ll be there, with open arms and open eyes”), SugarRay – Into Yesterday and The Romantics – What I like about You. Cant wait for this friday to share it with you on Download Friday.

Recipe : Creamy Potato Gratin

Posted by on June 21, 2007  |  4 Comments

As i said in my previous post, my sister and i decided to make dinner for Father’s Day instead of the usual eating out in overly priced restaurants with their “Father’s Day promos” to entice you into spending more.

Anyway this is what we finally did

  • Creamy Potato Gratin
  • Garden Salad
  • Buns
  • Canned soup (Campbell’s of course)
  • Rosemary Lamb Chops In the end we just had pre-marinated sirloin steaks from Tesco
  • Sparkling Juice Coke
  • Ice cream for dessert We were too full so didnt have dessert

So here’s the recipe for the yummy Creamy Potato Gratin which i adapted from Yahoo! Food.

1 large garlic clove, halved
1 kg potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
Salt and freshly ground white pepper
1 cup grated Chedder, set aside 1/4 cup.
1 1/2 cups whipping cream
1 cup whole milk
Butter, for casserole dish

  1. Heat the oven to 160 degrees celcius and line a baking sheet with foil. Rub the inside of a casserole dish with the garlic, pressing hard so it releases its juices. When the garlic juice dries, generously butter the casserole dish.
  2. Layer the potatoes in the dish, seasoning them with salt and white pepper as you go. Be generous with the salt and pepper. Add a light sprinkling of cheese.
  3. Combine the cream and milk in a large measuring cup or a bowl. Pour the cream and milk over the potatoes. Put the dish in the oven on top of the baking pan you covered in foil (to catch any spills) and leave to bake for about 45 – 60 minutes. Poke a knife through to test if the potatoes are soft.
  4. potato2.jpg potato1.jpg

  5. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top and bake for about 10 minutes till the cheese is melted and browned. Leave to sit for 10 mins and serve.

This is a very simple and plain recipe but tastes nice. Usually I make mashed potatoes but this is a much easier option. Enjoy

My sisters and I are going to prepare dinner tomorrow for father’s day to give my mom a break (and also cheaper than eating out). After some debate, this is what my sister and I agreed on:

  • Creamy Potato Gratin
  • Garden Salad
  • Buns
  • Canned soup (Campbell’s of course)
  • Rosemary Lamb Chops
  • Sparkling Juice
  • Ice cream for dessert (pending?)

Watch out for pics & recipes soon!
