Holidaying in Europe

Posted by on November 13, 2007  |  No Comments

I just love travelling, one of the places that I would love to go to is Europe. My parents have been to Paris and London and they absolutely loved it there. Im sure it’ll be such fun! I particularly want to visit Paris, London, Berlin & Barcelona – because each have its special qualities that make Europe so unique.

I think that driving there would be better than having a tour because then you can have the fun of enjoying a road trip – but of course we must be prepared with a good map and a well-planned route. Plus, you can plan which sites you want to visit and for how long without being tied down to a tour schedule.

a square in barcelona
The picture above is a square in Barcelona, Spain. Look how quaint and laid back it is. I would love to have a hotel in Barcelona overlooking a square like that, where you can see people walking by or drinking coffee under umbrellas in outdoor cafes. Ahh…so relaxing.

berlin

This is Brandenburger Gate which was one of the main city gates in Berlin, Germany. The architecture is superb and to think that it stood tall since 1791. It took three years to build. Can you imagine? Imagine staying in one of the hotels in Berlin and waking up to splendid view of the Brandenburger Tor (gate in German) with the soft morning light behind it. Majestic!

london
“Will you let me romanticize,
The beauty in our London Skies”

Lyrics from Jamie Cullum’s “London Skies” speaks of the sunlight beneath the clouds looming over London. Though it might seem grey, its the perfect kind of weather to walk around the city because its not too hot and not too cold. I would love to stay in one of the hotels in London right in the middle of all the tourist attractions and walk or hitch a ride on the bus to visit those sites.

eiffel tower

Ahh…Paris, the City of love. Im sooo inspired to visiting this city with a loved one after watching Paris je t’aime. Everything there is just so romantic. Imagine staying in the honeymoon suite in one of the best hotels in Paris and standing at the balcony, watching the sun go down and the lights begin to brighten while drinking a glass of champagne with your loved one. Awwwwww…….

Visiting all these places might just be a dream now, but i vow to myself that I will go one day :D

[Review] Lions for Lambs

Posted by on November 12, 2007  |  2 Comments

lions for lambs big poster

Synopsis : Two determined students at a West Coast University, Arian and Ernest, follow the inspiration of their idealistic professor, Dr. Malley (Robert Redford), and attempt to do something important with their lives. But when the two make the bold decision to join the battle in Afghanistan, Malley is both moved and distraught. Now, as Arian and Ernest fight for survival in the field, they become the string that binds together two disparate stories on opposite sides of America. In California, an anguished Dr. Malley attempts to reach a privileged but disaffected student, who is the very opposite of Arian and Ernest. Meanwhile, in Washington D.C. the charismatic Presidential hopeful, Senator Jasper Irving (Tom Cruise), is about to give a bombshell story to a probing TV journalist (Meryl Streep) that may affect Arian and Ernest’s fates. As arguments, memories and bullets fly, the three stories are woven ever more tightly together, revealing how each of these Americans has a profound impact on each other–and the world.

I found this movie to be such an eyeopener. At first it appears to be three separate stories but as the movie progresses, it shows how interlinked the stories are. Its essentially a political drama, with Senators trying to convince journalists about their ‘big plan to save the world’, journalists who oppose and question the actions of the senators and the general public – how they feel about the situation and what do they do about it.

Loads of talking and debating in this movie. Hardly any action scenes so most some will find it boring – to be sure. Go if you’re interested in political dramas and keep abreast of the political issues. It centers around Americans and the war in Afghanistan.

“If you don’t stand for something, you might fall for anything” – Anything that the media, govn or people feed you. Profound words which are shown and explained in this movie.

Bersih Yellow-ness

Posted by on November 11, 2007  |  7 Comments

The whole country is abuzz about the whole BERSIH thingy. Got a text from a trusted source about the rally that took place yesterday and passed the word around to a few people who i know like to mingle with the weekend crowd in KL. (Im not a big fan of going out to KL in weekends, pening seeing the crowd, where everyone brings their mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, etc etc etc, u get my drift)

Anyway for those that have been living under a coconut shell, Bersih is a group of about 71 entities – including some registered political parties (correct me if im wrong) who organized a peaceful protest/rally in Dataran Merdeka to urge the government for electoral reform, changes in voting/polling and also fair and equitable access to the national media. Some 40,000 – 50,000 people were gathered in KL wearing Yellow shirts/headbands for the peaceful protest before they were sprayed with water and tear gas which caused most to disperse.

Cheap Hosting

I was reading a friend’s blog who was writing about a sudden increase of projects for website designers and freelancers. Suddenly everyone realizes the potential of having their corporate website. These types of websites can range from simple informational websites to online stores to complex portals.

For some, it might be confusing to think about domain names and cheap small business hosting. How to design their site, whats the best colours to use, the best layout and how to present the information in the best and effective way possible.

For some, it might be confusing to think about domain names and cheap small business hosting. How to design their site, whats the best colours to use, the best layout and how to present the information in the best and effective way possible. Then there’s the added headache about buying and selling products – whats the best method? Credit cards? Paypal?

Companies both big and small are looking for ecommerce hosting which is using linux hosting or cpanel hosting can get it from AQHost. AQHost provides clients with site design, shopping cards and SSL Certifications. They can also set up a Merchant account for companies who want to sell their products for processing Credit Cards.

And best of all, it cheap!

Pangkor Trip – Day 1

Posted by on November 7, 2007  |  3 Comments

Be prepared for a series of long posts full of pictures. This is my third attempt to write this post coz my connection sucks and I got no autosave! boo hoo :(

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Everyone was excited and psyched up for this trip. It was going to be our first trip together as friends (+ one couple). We planned to go on Friday, most of us who had classes had to skip them because our bus was at 1.30pm and we didn’t want to take the ferry at night.
So Aree slept over the night before actually she only came at 4am after goin out drinking with friends coz Taufan was going to pick up at at 11am which he was late by 15-20 mins to go to Kelana Jaya. We met up with Pam who was pissed coz we were late and Jef at KJ then proceeded to go to Pasar Seni. Met up with Ariff & Azrai Lychee Arai who were actually just one train behind us. Then we walked to Puduraya. Yes walked thru Central Market and Petaling Street (I still think Masjid Jamek would hv been a nearer stop) and met up with Nik there.
Proceeded to look for our bus platform, loaded up on snacks, drinks and reading material then we were off.The trip there was rather uneventful. Everyone was sleeping in the bus at one point or another. It was cold, luckily I brought my sweater. It was my first time riding an outstation bus – we took the Transnational and tickets were about RM40 to-and-fro and it was very comfortable.
We reached Lumut in the evening – I forgot the exact name of the station, oh well. Its right next to the jetty so we walked to the jetty and got on the ferry. We decided to sit at the back in the open air area to enjoy the breeze and of course take photos :P Upon arriving at Pangkor Island, we took a taxi – which was actually a van painted pink to our resort – Purnama Beach Resort.
We were then brought to our rooms. We had 2 huge rooms, one for all the boys and their snoring orchestra and one for us four girls which didnt really work out that way in the end. We then took a shower and freshen up, lepak for a bit then proceeded to the room for a round of drinks – I brought tequila, tuak & JD, playing board/card games – Catan & Bang, buat maksiat and other forms of substance abusing.
We couldn’t stay up all night coz we had to go snorkeling at 9am and breakfast was at 8am so I think we slept around 2-ish. I was assigned to wake everyone up the next morning. Its going to be a hard task…
Spa Relaxation
Posted by on November 7, 2007  |  No Comments
Ahh, I LOVE going for spa treatments. Nothing beats it, not even sex. The whole environment changes once u step in to the spa. The soothing piano instrumental music, the cool air, the subdued lighting. The feeling of strong hands kneading your back ensuring that every part of your sore, aching body is given the attention it deserves. Even imagining all that is making me relax right now.
But have you ever wondered how it is to maintain a spa? I guess first you have to find masseurs and people to handle the daily transactions and stuff. Then you hv to buy equipment like Hot Tub Covers and Spa Covers.
A Hot Tub Cover is used to cover the hot tub to ensure that no dirt goes into it, especially for those hot tubs that are in an open air area like in the garden. A Spa Cover is a mattress like thing for us to lie down on so we can get comfy. So get Spa Covers of Superior Quality at HotTubWorks.com.
Writing about this makes me wanna go to the spa! I need a pampering session, anyone volunteering?
