My New Rig & Football Tales

Posted by on March 24, 2008  |  2 Comments

That’s a picture of my new rig. Thought of getting silver and black casing to match my monitor & speakers but the silver/black one doesn’t look so nice as this red/black one. Its not so fancy or kelip2 with blues and greens but its good enough. Besides, case modding is mostly for eye candy. Its the INSIDE that counts isn’t it? ;)

Specifications :

  • Core 2 Duo 2.66Ghz
  • 2.00 GB RAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT
  • CD/DVDW (which I nicked off my previous PC)
  • 320GB HDD
  • Some not-a-cap-ayam PSU (slightly more pricy then the normal PSU)

Total cost :RM1870 + RM53 for 50 pcs blank DVDs. Many2 thanks to Perampok (www.perampok.com) for pasang-ing the PC and transfering the dick, opps typo disk drive + data from the old hd to the new one. Thx to arep for following to Lowyat and then lunch at Nandos, Midvalley where the service sucked :/

Lepaked with the boys at Kelana Jaya last nite watching the Manchester United – Liverpool game. MU won 3-0. I bet Liverpool fans like a certain 39-yr-old-golf-instructor-who-just-got-married and a 30-plus-man-who-is-going-to-get-married was pissed. I’m sure the former lost lots of money in betting. Got home about 12.45am

Took out both CPUs from the car. Left the old one under the stairs to be brought up tomorrow. Cleared up my room and swept under my table. Its a bit dusty already there. Note to self: Do laundry and vacuum carpet. Fixed up the PC and had problems with my wireless connection, as usual. Dont know why it always takes me a couple of tries baru jadi. Must be something with the settings (even tho i oredi godek2 all the settings). Finally got the internet connected and all the important programs installed. So happy to hv the new faster pc.

Uh, i hv Software Requirements class today at 2pm. Im lazy to go. Come give me a good reason not to go. LOL! I is lazzyyyyy!

p/s:My sidebar is a bit rosak. The part above the search button. Will fix it later.

What comes after graduation?

Posted by on March 20, 2008  |  4 Comments

Im supposed to be graduating in June. As of now, I’m terrified of the prospect. Why? Well because I feel that my course – BSc (Hons) in Software Engineering with Multimedia (BSEM for short) – was not up to my expectations. My course focused more on the multimedia modules. On the IT side, they taught mostly theoretical stuff like Networking, Software Requirements and Software Project Management. I feel as if I want to go and take some short courses to brush up on important stuff like networking and database.

There’s this website I found that offers training and courses for certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE). Perhaps I should go and do PMP training to get a Project Management Professional Certificate?

Unlike what some people think, I’m not just sitting around doing nothing. As of now, I’m currently sourcing around for internship posts and or training places so that I can learn stuff in a real working environment. So wish me loads of luck!

That rainy day..

Posted by on March 19, 2008  |  No Comments

Remember how heavy the rain was last Tuesday (yesterday)?

Well I didn’t go to class on Tuesday (4-8pm) because I was sick – sneezing non stop since Tuesday morning due to a bad cold. Then it started raining heavily in the afternoon. I mean like really heavily, cats and dogs. Even my mom asked me not to go to class beause the rain was too heavy to drive long distance. Very loud thunder and lighting thrown in.

At one point there was this really bright flash of light and loud thunder and there was a trip. Luckily my laptop wasn’t plugged in at this time. Had to flick the switch on the power box – whatever it’s called. Then everything went back to normal. Or was it? First thing I noticed was that the internet was down. Went back out of my room to check the modem/router and found out that the modem had no lights. Electrocuted.

Oh, then my mom got a call from my youngest sis. She (my sis) tumpang-ed her tuition teacher to Centerpoint and as she was exiting the car, the opened the door and a car langgar-ed the door. Yep, pure carelessness. She didn’t even look out for a car before opening the door. Typical of her. My parents were pissed! My dad was like “all of you is like that, always accident. Feli (my sis) doesn’t even drive also can have this kind of accident.”

Mom had to drive to go pick her up while G and I were bored at home. No internet maa. So we wanted to go down to watch TV. Went downstairs and tried to on the TV. To no avail, electrocuted also. *sigh* Which added to my mom’s pissiness (is there such a word?) when she came back. Because the TV is her only source of entertainment at home.

Well, we managed to get a new modem & fix up the Internet that night. So yey for that! If not, I’d have to resort to watching all my DVDs which i downloaded and never watched. LOL!

p/s: Zestful Eats has been updated (after being on a haitus for a while). Go check it out!

Hey guys! Tuesday again, time for another tutorial. Was my last tutorial about spoilers helpful? I hope so. Sorry couldn’t upload this post earlier, my internet was down because my modem got electrocuted after the heavy rain yesterday.

Edit : pacmee can only be used for hotlink/maxis users. Boo!

Have you guys noticed the newest addition to my sidebar on the right? Its under SMS Updates. That small widget is updated via SMSes from me about my current updates. Meaning I don’t have to be physically in front of the PC to make my update. Cool eh? Let me teach you how to get one

Importance of Medical Tags

Posted by on March 18, 2008  |  No Comments

You know when you watch those war movies the soldiers always have dog tags? I think its for identification, correct me if i’m wrong – never been a big fan of military games or movies. Anyway, nowadays it’s used for medical purposes. Especially in emergencies where the patient is unconscious or if it is a child medical alert because kids might not be able to give proper information to the medical staff. The Medical IDs have important details like allergies and medications engraved on the back. Best part is, it doesn’t come in those plain dogtags. They have all kinds of bracelets, sportsbands and even watches.

I got my CJ7 doll

Posted by on March 18, 2008  |  10 Comments

We were walking around after buying tickets for the movie 10,000 BC (which was good but more on that later) when I spotted this shop selling the very adorable CJ7. They sold it in a few sizes – handphone hangers, keychains, flat rounded zipper wallets but he bought me the biggest one (about RM20) they have to hang in the car, the one with a suction cup :D

Cuteness!

p/s: did you know that the small kid is actually a gal in real life? The actress’ name is Kitty Zhang YuQi nine year old Xu Jiao. (EDIT: Opps..put the wrong name. Kitty Zhang is actually the cute teacher in that tight cheongsam, the girl who played the kid is Xu Jiao)

My computers died on me :(

Posted by on March 17, 2008  |  3 Comments

I have 2 hard drives in that PC – one 60gb & another 80gb. The smaller one is where I put my Windows and program files, its quite old, given to me by a friend when I had PC problems. Anyway, it decided to die on me last week. Just gave me a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) then Disk boot error. I was just waiting for it to kaput so I had all my files backup-ed earlier so its no big loss. Its just a question of whether I have the funds to replace it or not. Not only that, im using 512 MB of SDRAM and

So now I have to turn to my laptop. Portable but heavy (2.7kg) and gets hot fast. I simply hated the Vista Home basicit was running on. Programs would just suddenly have the error message "Not Responding" and everything will be laggy. I had problems even opening photoshop so Im sure opening 3dsmax 6 or unreal editor 2004 might be worst. Not to mention I can’t use CS3 on it. Finally, i got Arep to help me downgrade it to WinXP. tengkiu Arep!

So that explains why i haven’t been updating these past few days. Hopefully my dad agrees to change my pc because i really need a better one :) He did mention something about it but I’m not going to believe it till i get the physical cash in hand. Here’s hoping he does get it for me *crosses fingers*
