How To Find a Good Hosting Company?

Posted by on March 7, 2008  |  2 Comments

There are tons of hosting horror stories that I’ve heard from my friends.

First is from pakngah (pakngah.org) who hosting his blog on some Malaysian hosting company and they lost his database. Yea, all his previous posts and comments, all gone. Not once, but TWICE! I think that is the nightmare of every blogger. I can’t imagine how I would react if my blog disappeared.

Then I have this friend, Khai (justkhai.com) , who hosted his forum, blog hosting service and his own personal blog on a Malaysian hosting. He was sponsored by them. The bad thing is, their hosting is always experiencing downtime. And when their servers are down, all the employees disappear so the users are left hanging and wondering.

So what is a good web hosting company? Well firstly, find a company that is reliable. Google the company name and see if anyone has complained about it in forums, websites or in their blog. Then make sure that the company is established. Thirdly, look for a plan that suits your needs. Those are the basic three tips to looking for a good hosting company. You can google more articles such as “web hosting”, “creating a blog”, “what is html” and so on to gain more information before choosing the right web host. Good luck!

Review : Vantage Point

Posted by on March 6, 2008  |  No Comments

Thomas Barnes and Kent Taylor are two Secret Service agents assigned to protect President Ashton at a landmark summit on the global war on terror. When President Ashton is shot moments after his arrival in Spain, chaos ensues and disparate lives collide in the hunt for the assassin. In the crowd is Howard Lewis, an American tourist who thinks he’s captured the shooter on his camcorder while videotaping the event for his kids back home. Also there is American TV news producer Rex Brooks, relaying the historic event to millions of TV viewers across the globe. As they and others reveal their stories, the pieces of the puzzle will fall into place – and it will become apparent that shocking motivations lurk just beneath the surface.

Streamyx Woes

Posted by on March 5, 2008  |  No Comments

I wish streamyx would upgrade their service. Sometimes I have a problem getting online because of a fault on their side. My modem’s DNS light isn’t on. Then I’ll have to give their customer service a ring and hope that they fix it fast. Its such an inconvenience to not have internet access. I wish we were staying in the US.

In the US, then we could have High Speed Charter Internet services for life. That’s way better and faster then our 1mbps “high speed” broadband line here. Plus, now its auctioning from USD10 onwards. So who knows, you can get it really cheap. For life!

Internet here is around RM77-88 for 1Mbps. I wonder how much will it be for life? But seriously, would you want to survive with crappy service for life? I wouldn’t. Its really not worth the price we pay considering that overseas internet is so cheap. Cut throats.

Oh yea, when you register to bid for that Charter Internet service, you also have a chance to win a Nintendo Wii. See, that’s an even better bargain. Internet + Game console. Plus they’ll also throw in Wii Stand, 5 Sports games ( Boxing, Baseball, Tennis, Golf and bowling), 1 Remote Controller, 1 Nunchuk Controller, 1 Sensor Bar, 1 Wii AC Adapter, 1 Wii AV Cable. You won’t find such a good deal anywhere in Malaysia. Trust me.

So, if you’re in the United States, Click Here for a Chance to Win a Nintendo® Wii™!

Review : Charlie Wilson’s War

Posted by on March 5, 2008  |  No Comments

Based on the true story of how Charlie Wilson, an alcoholic womanizer and Texas congressman, persuaded the CIA to train and arm resistance fighters in Afghanistan to fend off the Soviet Union. With the help of rogue CIA agent, Gust Avrakotos, the two men supplied money, training and a team of military experts that turned the ill-equipped Afghan freedom-fighters into a force that brought the Red Army to a stalemate and set the stage for conflicts in the Middle East that still rage to this day.

Fear of flying?

Posted by on March 5, 2008  |  No Comments

I just realized that when you buy airasia tickets, you just have to add another RM15 to get travel insurance. That’s pretty cheap yea? At least in the event that there is an accident *knock wood* and you get injured while on the plane, then everything would be covered. (Suddenly that initial scene where the plane breaks apart in that TV Series ‘Lost’ comes to mind…..scary).

After that lovey dovey phase

Posted by on March 4, 2008  |  4 Comments

Its been more than a month now. The first month was wonderful you know. That getting to know each other. The lovey-dovey sayang-sayang phase. Its a really exciting time because everything is so new and nice. But what happened after that initial stage?

We’ve been having these little squabbles. Over silly little insignificant things. Things that are not important. I have to admit, it’s mostly on my part. Most of the time he’d give in apologizing.

Oysters Galore

Imagine if oysters produced more than just gorgeous, valuable pearls and luscious, succulent flesh. For example if the shells of the oysters could be put to good use such as charcoal. Then we wouldn’t be throwing anything away.

BBQ Arang

Posted by on March 3, 2008  |  2 Comments

I knew everyone would be late so I took my own sweet time in going to the BBQ. I finished making my cakes the night before so I didn’t have to rush to prepare anything. Reached there around 5.30pm (they initially said to meet at 3pm). And saw that everyone was fanning an empty bbq pit.
