Haitus – Part 2

Posted by on May 31, 2008  |  1 Comment

Okay I wrongly guessed the date of my exams. They’re later than I expected. So apparently I’ll be busy for much longer. Starting next week my schedule is packed with completing and passing up assignments. Sorry if I won’t be able to update as regularly as before. I should be completed in 2-3 weeks. Phew

My Online Shopping Addiction

Posted by on May 29, 2008  |  No Comments

My name is IcedNyior and I’m an online shopaholic.

Its weird you know. Ask any of my friends like Pam or Aree and ask them how I am when we go out shopping. I’m usually the one who tags along, gives comments and only once in a while do I buy something – and that is quite seldom.

However, online shopping hit me like a mind blowing orgasm. LOL! Its so hard to stop myself from transferring over money for this or that item. Sprees are the worst!

Sprees are when people all gather their orders and order stuff from international websites like Bath and Body Works, Victoria Secret, Sephora, Amazon, etc then save on shipping costs. Its usually organized by two people – one in US and one over here. So the websites ships the items to person in US who then ships it to someone here who then distributes it to everyone else.

So yea anyway, I got the two packages I was waiting for. Yey! I mentioned it a few posts back coz I have to wait a month for the stuff to get here.

I bought these items

  • Bath and Body Works Black Raspberry & Vanilla Body Splash = RM30
  • Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Grapefruit Blast Double Body Mist = 2 for USD27.90
  • Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Grapefruit Blast Body Drink Lotion= 2 for USD27.90
  • I actually bought another BBW Chocolate Amber Body Splash but I didn’t like the smell so I sold it off to someone else at the same price I bought it.

I also bought these products from elf (EyesLipsFace.com) at Rm50 for 6

  • Candy Shop Lip Tins – Berry Pop & Cherry Bomb
  • Wet Gloss Lash & Brow Clear Mascara
  • Brightening Eye Colour – Drama, Luxe & Ivy
  • Brightening Eye Liner – Coffee
  • Natural Radiance Blusher – Flushed
  • Earth & Water Mascara Duo – Brown
  • Bought a few other elf items for my sisters also.

Haven’t had the chance to try it yet tho. Will write reviews soon.

Lighting in 3d

Posted by on May 29, 2008  |  1 Comment

I went for my 3ds presentation yesterday. I have a robot-like character in a box. The story is, the character wakes up and stands up and walk towards the door. He (or rather, it) tries to open the door using the door knob but its locked. Then it takes a chainsaw and tries to saw the door down. He fails. Then he gets an axe and tries to chop it down. Finally he decides to run and push against the door.

So anyway, I showed it to my lecturer the other day. He said it was okay but my animation was a bit too slow :( I lost around half marks for that. The other major thing that was missing in my animation was lighting. I didn’t have enough lights to brighten up my scene so the scene looks dull and rather plain. Another thing was I didn’t have any lights inside my box so the robot was dark. He encouraged me to use spotlights – in real life it would be something like Golights – to shine on the robot.

I think that lighting is very important in 3d, especially if you’re creating something realistic. This is because you have to ensure that all the shadows and stuff are correct – just like in real life.

Still so much work to be done on my project. *sigh*

3ds max rendering error :(

3ds max 6 error
Click to see a bigger pic

Haih~~ Im almost finishing my 3d project and decided to test out the rendering to see how long it will take. Then I find out that it crashes everytime I want to render it as a video (either AVI or MOV). Probably because I’m using the pirated version, I don’t know.

Im trying to complete it ASAP (sometime this afternoon) and then I’ll send it to a friend of mine who will try to render it for me. But I’m not really sure of what version he’s using and he can’t promise to deliver it on time (I need it by Tuesday for my presentation).

Worst come to the worst, I’ll probably have to render it frame by frame then find some kinda software to create it into an avi – much like stock motion animation. Sucks!

On another note, I always thought that independance was an intergrated part of me and that I wont be a needy gf. But when I know he’s going outstation, I feel weird. I don’t know how to explain it. Its just weird. He feels bad going. But I want him to go. He needs to go because he has things to do. It’ll be selfish and bad for me to deny him that. I understand everything rationally. And usually, I would even give a second thought about this kinda things.

I don’t know where this irrational feelings come from. I mean, I leave him all the time – Phuket last January, Jakarta this coming June (this one not confirmed yet), KK this coming July, and somewhr – most probably Koh Phangan – end of this year (still in planning). Maybe its because it the first time he will be away. Or maybe its because i broke it off with my first bf when he balik kampung and was taunting me about the fact that he got married. He has always been taunting me about other girls that he has and it was the last straw. So I called it off there and then, over the phone.

Blergh! I dont halang him going – I understand perfectly the reasons why and I accept it. I just feel weird.

Edit: Worst part is, i cant contact him coz he didn’t bring his phone :(

I don’t have a good feeling about today :(

Sell your eggs?

Posted by on May 24, 2008  |  1 Comment

I once came across this post in a forum that was looking for women to donate their eggs for RM3500. The post was deleted soon after by forum moderators because it sounded too much like a scam.

Scams aside, I think that fertility clinics are really doing a very positive thing. Its sad for couples who would love to have a child but can’t due to some complications. One thing they can do is the IVF procedure where the egg (from the woman) is extracted and then the sperm is added. Then a few days later, the developing embryo is placed into the woman’s uterus. The babies are commonly known as test tube babies.

Wonderful isn’t it, this world of new medical technologies?

BSOD Blues

Posted by on May 24, 2008  |  No Comments

As you can see from my SMS updates, I had problems with my PC the other day. Some hardware was a bit loose. I had to open it up and press everything back in to ensure it was working properly. Then my internet decided to act up on me and it was down for a few hours.

I had some freelancing work to do. Its actually something like manual spamming where I had to leave comments on do-follow blogs using a name, email and URL that is given. RM80 for two days work of 250 comments. Sounds easy rite?

Not when you have a sukky internet connection that tends to die on you and suddenly get disconnected. And 2 days is not enough time to do all the comments.

So due to the aforementioned problem with my PC and internet, I overshot the deadline by an hour or so. I just sent it anyway. But the bugger in charged of it couldn’t even BOTHER to reply back and say that he didn’t accept it. Instead he’s just leaving it hanging so I emailed him again today saying:

Look, I know it overshot the deadline (coz I only sent it around 1am) but its was circumstances that were out of my control. It would be nice (and more professional) if you could just reply my email saying you won’t accept it.

I wonder if I’ll get a reply. I doubt tho.

Promote your blog offline

Posted by on May 24, 2008  |  1 Comment

As I was blog hopping, I came across ways to promote your blog offline. One suggestion was to make a business card to promote your name, id and blog. The idea was, in our daily life, we meet so many people and have so much opportunities to promote our blog to them. If you just mention it, they might forget or misspell your blog name. But with a business card, its easier to remember the business card and thus, your URL.

I remember some time ago when I went to Blogger Booze – a bloggers meet in a pub in Hartamas, there was this guy passing out business cards. I thought he was promoting his company or job but it only had his name, nickname and blog URL on it. Well then, come to think of it,why stop at business cards?why not just make address stickers or fliers? Then again, perhaps that is too over the top.

Anyway, i think the blog card is good especially if you are a blogger who often goes to blog meets and gatherings. Then you can pass out your card to the other bloggers there.

Would you ever make a business card for your blog?

Review : Indiana Jones & The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (no spoilers)

Posted by on May 23, 2008  |  5 Comments

Ah, the fourth installment of Indiana Jones. There must be a lot of people who are looking forward to George Lucas’ and Steven Spielberg’s latest offering. I went to watch it last night and didn’t quite like it. More on that later. First, the summary. For once I didn’t copy paste from somewhere else. LOL!

The year is 1957, and the movie opens with a row of military vehicles driving along a lonely road in a scorching desert. A not-that-young-anymore Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) and his sidekick Mac (Ray Winston) is caught by Soviet agents lead by the ruthless Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett). They want something from him – the way to find the Crystal Skull.

Together with Mutt Williams (Shia LeBeouf), his mentor (John Hurt) and his mother (Karen Allen), Indiana Jones must race against to Soviet agents to be the first to find the Crystal Skull.

Okay, the movie was full of the usual exploring different countries and running into the forests and visiting old temples – like most of Indiana Jones’ movies. I expected something full of adventure and puzzles, much like movies such as National Treasure. Boy was I disappointed.

Everything was so easy, from the deducing of the clues, how they escaped the bad guys to deciding what steps to take next. Indiana Jones had kinda lost his edge, being much more ‘softer’. I’d expected someone who had great witty and sarcastic comebacks.

And don’t get me started on the ending, after all that swordfighting, punching people in the gut and bleeding noses, it was SUCH a letdown.

Lets hope the next installment of Indiana Jones – I think there is going to be one – would be much much better than this one.

Rating : (*)(*) 2 out of 5 stars

Iphone Anyone?

Posted by on May 22, 2008  |  3 Comments

I think the iPhone is rather cool and fancy looking. With the touch screen and all it seems like a really nice phone. Sadly its kinda too expensive for me. Plus if i want to use it here, I have to unlock it.
