Freelancing problems

Posted by on July 28, 2008  |  1 Comment

I’ve been looking for some freelancing work – mostly doing websites and stuff. I have had two friends approach me about it. One I’ve already gave some mockup designs and he has yet to get back to me. The other is kinda giving me some problems.

He wants everything cheap without putting into consideration labour costs. Then he wants it nice (read: flash). Not only that, I would also have to get hosting and a domain. Its hard to work with someone like that so I just gave him a quotation and just wait and see. I’m not putting too much hope on it though.

Post Graduation Sickness

Posted by on July 28, 2008  |  1 Comment

I went to the clinic today since I’ve been having a bad sore throat and sexy voice since Saturday. My family and some friends have been laughing at my weird voice. Taufan asked if i screamed too much during my graduation. LOL!

Actually, its the combination of lack of sleep + heavy drinking at night. Today is much worse coz I can only whisper and when I swallow my saliva it hurts. Everything looks slightly swollen – especially the right jaw. Doctor said I have a pretty bad throat infection :( She then supplied me with medication for flu, fever, sore throat and also some lozenges and cough mixture

Oh, the family and I went to Cheras today to take my graduation photo with the family because my sister just got back from Thailand this morning. Can’t wait to see the final pics! I have to go down to Cyberjaya tomorrow to return my robe/gown.

One more thing, a new friend of mine, Hurley, just moved from vox to blogger so go over to his home and give him some lurve!

Tips for Final Year Project

Posted by on July 28, 2008  |  No Comments

I think one of the hardest things for a final year student is their final year project. One must find a final year project that is nice yet not too hard to do. It must also be something that is unique and different from your fellow classmates and/or seniors.

Choose a FYP that is suitable. Then comes the of writing the proposal and hoping that your lecturers agree with you doing that particular project. Once it’s approved, the real work begins.

First, make sure u plan out the timeline of your project. This is very imporant so that you know what should be done in a particular time.

Secondly, do your research. A good documentation has research paper references that are credible. Please don’t use wikipedia as your source.

Thirdly, start doing your project. Make sure to stick to your timeline. Regularly meet with your project supervisor to show your progress.

Fourthly, complete your documentation with all the coding and references. Get someone to look over your documentation. Preferably someone who has experience proofreading college essays.

Fifth, test your project and debug it. Double check and make backup copies. Sent your documentation early to the printers (especially if you’re doing it hard cover) and submit all your work on time.

Hope these tips helps you final year students :D

[Movie Review] The X-Files: I Want to Believe

Posted by on July 25, 2008  |  4 Comments

OKay, this is going to be short and sweet coz I went out drinking after the movie and only came back around 2-3am then for no apparent reason woke up at 7am this morning. Tired and a bit hungover.

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson

The story is set in a time where both Scully and Mulder have moved on from their lives in the FBI. Scully is a doctor and Mulder is, well, he’s still searching for the truth out there. Then, the FBI comes out of no where and asks for their help because a case they are currently solving involves some out-of-this-world elements. This forces both Scully and Mulder to be involved hand-in-hand with the FBI to solve the case.

Well, X Files fans, don’t expect to see your usual X-Files type of movie. This is a standalone movie which is nothing like the series. So you might be dissapointed. I felt like this movie lack so many elements. The plot is not really thought out well because it felt slow and draggy. Characters were kind of just there for the sake of being there.

It could have been a really good thriller movie with lots of suspense and sudden movements. Or it could hv been a good slasher movie with lots of blood and gore. But it was just somewhere in between, lacking that ‘omph’ factor. All in all, give this a miss. I wouldn’t even download/buy a pirated copy. its *that* boring.

On another note, much thanks to +sizekitten for giving free tickets to watch this movie @ Cineleisure. Met up with other bloggers/photobloggers as well there : ‘Uncle’ Frog Prince, Hurley, Joyce (not a tarp!), Tiffany, Ewin and a few others (sorry I dont hv your links and I’m very bad with names). I didn’t know any of them – tho I did know Joyce coz I sometimes comment on his blog – but it was fun meeting new ppl. We should hang out one day :D

Um..this post isn’t as short as I tot it would be. LOL!

Edit : Changed the links to show the reviews from the other bloggers :)

Pinhole Glasses

Posted by on July 22, 2008  |  4 Comments

I don’t know if many people know this, but I use glasses. Most don’t realize because I tend to use contact lenses when I go out. Why? Its because my degree is pretty high at +6.00. That means my glasses are really thick. Some people say I don’t really look good in my glasses. Some say I look really studious. There was even a few guys who said that I look like a school teacher, especially if I also put my hair in a bun. LOL!

I think that glasses doesn’t really suite my face so now I use contacts when I go out. I find that they are more convenient to wear because you don’t hv to worry about it fogging up, or slipping off your nose. Not only that, I can also wear my sunglasses – which is a big plus for me since I drive during the day a lot.

However, I long for the day that I won’t have to wear glasses or contact lenses. One of the ways is probably Lasik – which is expensive. Another way is using Pinhole Glasses. I have been seeing this product in watsons or guardians but never had the courage to try it coz I felt sceptical.

However, recently a free sample was offered to me and after two months, I received a pair of pinhole eyeglasses in a padded envelope. I’m sure you’re thinking like, “how can something simple like that improve my eyesight?”

Well, I tried putting it on. It feels weird at first but after a while, when my eyes adjusted, I realized that everything was much much clearer. I could actually read the bigger words on my computer screen while wearing it. I think this pinhole glasses is more suitable for people with a lower degree than mine because they will find that their eyesight will improved a lot
