I had my first taste of Krispy Kreme in Malaysia

Posted by on April 27, 2009  |  6 Comments

Krispy Kreme’s Hot Original Glazed Doughnuts are made from the same secret recipe used for over 70 years. An unforgettable treat passed down from generation to generation, Krispy Kreme is widely loved around the world because the doughnuts are made fresh daily and throughout the day using their own propriety doughnut mix to ensure quality and consistency.

Yes, they finally opened a store here in Malaysia – Berjaya Times Square to be exact. The launch was this morning at 9am with some dignitaries. The first customer won 1 yrs supply of KK Glazed doughnuts. Apparently she was camping out there since Saturday and skipped school today (she’s a Form 5 student) to be the first in line.

I managed to get a bite of the infamous glazed doughnut from a friend of mine and it was good. Soft and fluffy on the inside. The glaze was sweet but not overpoweringly sampai nak muak sweet.

Can’t wait to get to BTS to get me a box :D

Oh yes, rumour has it that they are opening another new store in Midvalley end of this month :D All photos taken frm Voize.my

Stila Cosmetics Haul

Posted by on April 22, 2009  |  4 Comments

As many girls know, Stila closed its counters in Malaysia (and other international sites) preferring instead to sell in the US only.

The best part? They had a clearance sale of all their cosmetics and merchandise ranging from 50% – 70%! Awesome. This was a chance for me to finally pick up some stila makeup (because they are a bit out of my price range :().

Anyway, this was my haul

[Joke] I want a 14 inch penis

Posted by on April 17, 2009  |  4 Comments

The beautiful secretary of the president of a bank goes on a sightseeing tour with a very rich African king who was a very important client. The client out of the blue asks her to marry him. Naturally, the secretary is quite taken aback. However, she remembers that her boss told her not to reject the guy outright. So, she tries to think of a way to dissuade the king from wanting to marry her.

After a few minutes, the woman says to the man, "I will only marry you under three conditions. First, I want my engagement ring to be a 75-carat diamond ring with a matching 200-carat diamond tiara." The African king pauses for awhile. Then he nods his head and says, "No problem! I have. I have."

Realizing her first condition was too easy the woman says to the man, "I want you to build me a 100-room mansion in New York. And as a vacation home, I want a chateau built in the middle of the best wine country in France." The African king pauses for awhile. He whips out his cellular phone and calls some brokers in New York and in France. He looks at the woman, nods his head and says, "Okay, okay. I build. I build."

Realizing that she only has one last condition, the secretary knows that she’d better make this a good one. She takes her time to think and finally she gets an idea, a sure-to-work condition. She squints her eyes, looks at the man and says, rather coldly, "Since I like sex, I want the man I marry to have a 14-inch penis."

The man seems a bit disturbed. He cups his face with his hands and rests his elbows on the table, all the while muttering in African dialect. Finally, after what seemed like forever, the king shakes his head, looking really sad, and says to the woman..

The Sendat Expedition

Posted by on April 13, 2009  |  No Comments

What did you guys do last weekend? A friend of mine invited me to follow him to look for a waterfall somewhere near Ulu Yam. “Kita pegi cari, then balik la” were his words. So I didn’t bring baju at first so we had to turn back. -_- Not to mention I forgot to set my alarm so I overslept. Sorry about that :P

Anyway, we expected a longer trip but it was a mere 70KM from my house. Its after Jalan Sungai Tua. Directions : “Once we reach the end of Jalan Sungai Tua, we turn right following the road sign.. Move straight for approximately another kilometer or so and we’re there.. Well the road was ok along the way, can say it was paved until the entrance of the falls entrance.. Unpaved for about 200m in the middle, but the road was ok

At first the river didn’t look very impressive but after we walked up higher, there was a waterfall and a quite nice pool where it was a bit deeper. The water was very cold and nice. We ended up staying for a few hours. Looks like a good place to BBQ and lepak ramai2. Will plan one soon

[Review ] P1 W1Max Wiggy USB Modem

Posted by on April 10, 2009  |  6 Comments

Recap: I was invited to the Wiggy Preview for bloggers 2 days ago. I wrote about it and had a few pics here. However the modem was not working so I had to go back and replace it.

 p1_wiggy1

So, I went to P1 yesterday to replace my modem from Janice (because Naomi was at the media launch). It was encased in a black tin box which is styled in a similar way to the modem itself. I like the box. More photos at the bottom of this post.

I brought my laptop to P1 to test the modem as well because I don’t want to go all the way through the Federal jam if it was not working again. Upon plugging in the modem, it should prompt to ask if you want to install the drivers (or go to My Computer and find the P1 drive).

How to connect : Open up the dialer (it should be a black box with the word P1 in it on your desktop. The dialer its the purple box on the bottom right in the Speedtest screenshot below. It should start detecting the modem. Wait if it doesn’t. Try re-plugging in the modem.

Connecting : I notice that it usually takes a while for it to detect the modem and get connected as well. Even in P1 office I had to wait a bit. In some cases, I only got connected after exiting the dialer then taking out the modem then re-plugging it back in.

wiggy speedtest

Above is the screenshot of my speedtest. This was in Bangsar Utama. The bottom right purple box is the dialer. Download – 0.99 Mb/s, Upload – 0.01 Mb/s, Ping – 153. I also ping’d google and got a few time outs but mostly it was okay.

Speeds : Surfing speeds were quite good. Youtube was not bad as well. One thing that I found was a bit weird is the downloading. I was trying to download something from rapidshare using IDM and I get fluctuating speeds. Something from 3kbs to 180Kbs. Its hard to say what’s the average download speed.

Conclusion : Based on my initial usage (so far) I’m quite satisfied with the speeds. Are you wiggy? ;)

Twenty Questions

Posted by on April 9, 2009  |  No Comments

Do u guys know what ‘Twenty Questions’ is? Its a kind of guessing game where one player is chosen to be the answerer. That person chooses a subject but does not reveal this to the others. The other players have to guess the thing by asking Yes/No questions. But, I’m not writing a post about the game.

Personally I think I ask too many questions. Especially if I meet someone different from me. Different background and mentality. Or maybe different “group” or clique. Or race (vroom vroom) or type.

It really makes me curious why does a person think a certain way. Why does he/she act differently from others? Why does he/she does this. Why doesn’t he/she do this? I tend to challenge and quarrel debate with people on subjects that interest me (which by the way does NOT include politics or religion).

To the point that I tend to be people think I am rude, arrogant, obnoxious and annoying. The fact that I seldom like to lose a debate and don’t know how to back off gracefully doesn’t help. Usually I just end with a “fine” and then silence – yes, i know that is not considered as “exiting gracefully”.

And funny thing is, I don’t do it to everyone I meet, just the few. Well, honestly I think it makes as very interesting conversation.

Just yet another random rambling at 2am..

P1 W1max ‘Wiggy’ USB Modem Preview

Posted by on April 8, 2009  |  22 Comments

P1 has been the forefront of providing wireless internet access in Malaysia. They first came out with a wireless modem for the desktop – a (roughly) 5x5x2 inch black modem.

Noami from P1 (packet One) kindly invited a few bloggers for a preview of the new ‘Wiggy’ USB Modem – two days ahead of the official (invite only) media launch tomorrow (Thursday, 9 Apr) at Upstairs, The Loft.

p1 w1max wiggy usb modem 3

It started around 8.10pm with firstly a short speech by the CEO of P1 W1Max, Mr Michael Lai, who said “if you have problems, don’t hesitate to whack us”. LOL! Then by the tech guy – sorry I forgot your name – who explained briefly about how they started and what they finally came up with.

So they showed us their USB Modem. Its a small (roughly) 2 inches by 4 inches modem with a “flip” USB that you can plug straight into your laptop. What I really like is no wires and the fact that the USB part is adjustable/moveable.

Photos & specs after the jump.
