Create your own Twitter Character!

Posted by on July 21, 2011  |  2 Comments

This is a pretty cool “customized” infographic for you Twitter users out there. Quite fun and interesting project from the people over at Visual.ly

Get your own here – http://visual.ly/twitter

One of my gripes about the infographic is that I don’t seem to have a unique URL to show people my character. So what I did was I screenshot the whole thing so that I can share it here.

Whoops my bad, you can get a short unique URL to show people. And also, I’ve noticed that it seems to track back only to a certain time, meaning the topics are what you’ve talked about in the past few days or past 1 week, I’m not sure. This is because my character this week is different from the one I did above. Also it’ll be quite cute if I can actually use the character created as my display picture automatically.

But still quite cute and good work from Visual.ly & @shanesnow

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 2) premiere at TGV Cinemas, Sunway Pyramid

Thanks to TGV Cinemas, I was invited to watch the premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 2) at TGV Cinemas, Sunway Pyramid on Tuesday, 12 July.  The cinema was packed with people and even cosplayers dressed up as Hogwarts students and key characters like Bellatrix and Severus Snape.

HP7.2"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" is the final adventure in the Harry Potter film series. In the much-anticipated epic finale, the battle between the good and evil forces of the wizarding world escalates into an all-out war. The stakes have never been higher and no one is safe until Voldemort is defeated. But it is Harry Potter who may be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice as he draws closer to the climactic showdown with the evil Lord Voldemort. It all ends here.

Classification: PG13
Genre: Action / Adventure / Fantasy
General Release Date: 14 Jul 2011
Running Time: 2 Hours 10 Minutes
Distributor: Warner Bros. Pictures
Cast: Bill Nighy, Timothy Spall, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Ralph Fiennes, Gary Oldman, Helena Bonham Carter, Jason Isaacs, Tom Felton, Alan Rickman
Director: David Yates

I seriously can’t believe it’s the end. I’m not a huge Harry Potter fan myself but I have read some of the books and watched some of the movies. I did however made a point to watch Part 1 of the Deathly Hallows before watching the movie.

At any case, it was an entertaining movie regardless of whether you’re a Harry Potter fan or not. So if you didn’t get to watch it this weekend, make sure to catch it soon! Also do watch Part 1 else you might get a bit lost.

On another note, it’s been a while since I’ve watched movies in TGV Cinemas since the one in 1Utama closed and the nearest one next to me in quite far in Sunway. However, I really like the seats in TGV as its at a sharper slope so the people in front of you don’t block your view. Like I mentioned, the cinema was packed with people, some in creative costumes and the whole place was decorated in a Harry Potter theme complete with nice tickets (pictured above).

Thanks TGV Cinemas for the great experience and ending to a saga!

p/s : I wonder if they’ll be a Part 1 & Part 2 marathon movie night. That would be pretty cool.

NKOTBSB Karaoke Night

Posted by on July 14, 2011  |  No Comments

So what do you do when a new album is launched? Press release? Party? Well, if you have an album combining two of the biggest boybands in history, put a unique twist to it and throw a Karaoke night! That’s what Sony Music Malaysia did together with Monster Beats (yeap, those awesome headphones!) at Red Box Gardens!

It was held last Thursday at Red Box, Gardens. Did you know they have an area at the back where you can hold events or karaoke parties. Quite cool actually. We were served with nibbles – nuggets, some tomato and chicken wrap (very yummy) and sandwiches.

To be honest, I didnt really know NKOTB – they were kind of ‘before’ my time – but I did grow up with BSB and later N’SYNC and much later Westlife. Backstreet Boys always had this place in my heart where I knew the words to all their songs and had debates with girl friends on who was the handsome-est BSB. In secondary school I had this rather weird eccentric classmate who was head over heels over BSB, especially Nick Carter. I heard she wanted to become a nun as well but……well, that’s a story for another time.

Anyway, the night started off with two enthusiastic MCs from FlyFM – the official radio station for the NKOTBSB Karaoke Night then all the media and fans were invited to participate in karaoke competition either in Group of Solo category. In fact the FlyFM boys themselves (I think they are part of the Troopers) even sang a BSB song, and quite well at that.

Besides the Karaoke contest, there was also a lucky draw. Prizes that can be won are Red Box vouchers, perfumes, a Blackberry (I can’t remember which model) and, most importantly two iBeats headphones to be given away (pictured on right). Some info about iBeats after the jump

The Karaoke was quite fun but I think that it we ended up having to wait a bit long. So perhaps limiting the groups or cutting the songs shorter would be best. By the way did you know that BSB songs have really LONG intros and/or middle parts, before the bridge. Also, “As Long as You Love Me” was the favourite for the night. For the lucky draw I won a CK perfume and lucky Daphne got herself the iBeats headphones. She also won 2nd place in the Solo singing competition – lucky girl.

Anyway it was a fun night thanks to all the sponsors, especially Monster & Sony Music!

And now..here’s a performance of NKOTBSB at the AMA 2010

Get One Million FREE Facebook Credits with U Mobile + Giveaway!

Posted by on July 5, 2011  |  1 Comment

I’ve been traveling a lot lately, well alternate weekends anyway so posted this a bit late. Heh

Anyway a couple of weeks back, I was invited to the  “1Million Facebook Credits Giveaway with U Mobile” party . The event was held at DELIcious, Marc Residences on a workday evening. I got there quite on time I think but they started late – I guess its due to the jam and all that. KL is really a nightmare to drive in during peak hours.

U Mobile is proud to announce that they are the FIRST TELCO in Asia to have an exclusive partnership with Facebook to offer FREE Facebook Credits with every U Mobile reload!

“I’m also happy to say that this is the first time that Facebook is partnering with any telco in Asia to give away Facebook Credits. This makes U Mobile the only telco service provider in Asia with this one-of-a-kind feature to offer its subscribers,” Dr Kaizad Heerjee, CEO of U Mobile excited about this new partnership with Facebook

Before that, what is Facebook Credits? Its used to purchase digital goods and other enhancements for more than 600 social games and applications on Facebook. FB Credits is a consistent and trusted way to make purchases. So the next time you want to water your farm, build your city or gain some kind of advantage in a Facebook game, FB Credits is the way to go!

U Mobile’s unique offering to its users is a result of its recent collaboration with Facebook, the world’s most popular social networking site, and MOL AccessPortal Sdn Bhd, the official distributor of Facebook Credits in Southeast Asia.

(I think this pic of Dr Kaizad tossing coins is cute)

“Our goal is to make Facebook Credits as accessible as possible to people everywhere that use Facebook,” said Stephen Dolan, Commercial Director for Facebook in Southeast Asia. “This collaboration with U Mobile and MOL AccessPortal will enable people to quickly and simply earn Facebook Credits for use in their favourite games and applications.”

U Mobile will be working closely with MOL AccessPortal to ensure a seamless and consistent user experience.

So how do you get the Facebook Credits? For every RM20 top-up or more, subscribers will receive 2 Facebook Credits and 1 Credit with an additional reload of RM10. There’s a daily cap of 20 Credits per user per day and a monthly cap of 50 credits per month. It just takes some simple steps :

  1. Like the Facebook page – http://www.facebook.com/umobilesb
  2. Reload your prepaid U Mobile account and you will receive a code via SMS
  3. Go to the Facebook page and click “U Mobile Facebook Credit Redemption” (or http://on.fb.me/umobilefb)
  4. Key in your code = Get free credit!

After the launch ceremony, we played a couple of games which were quite fun. One was collecting gold coins (chocolate coins) scattered/stuck all over DELIcious. There were on the trees, on the walls, at the tables. Was quite funny to see people poking all around to find coins. Another was everyone was given half a coin and we had to find our “match” and we can redeem the code.

Throughout the event we also played a game on Twitter. There were a number of questions asked and the first  person to get his/her followers to answer the most questions correctly will win a prize. Thanks to awesome Twitter friends like @nescagraff and gang, I won a HTC Wildfire! Its not often I win games at events so I was quite happy!

Thank you U Mobile for the fun night! ^_^
