Yea, new theme again. As usual, its another free theme,this time by the good people at http://themify.me titled “Koi”. Finished setting up the widgets over the weekend. Tell me what you guys think, are there errors, etc.

Okay back to the topic,

I changed my blog template, yet again.  Yes i know, I just changed it like a couple of months back but there was something I didn’t like about it so here’s the new template. Hopefully to stay this time. LOL!

Okay, first you will have to setup a new wordpress blog or you can use your existing one. In this tutorial, i set up a new wordpress blog at TwitterBackup to separate my tweets from my blog posts.

If you’re using a separate blog for your twitter posts first thing you need to do is go to the Settings > Discussion and Uncheck “Allow people to post comments on new articles”. This is so that people can’t comment on your posts.

Download this plugin TwitterTools by Alex King. Really awesome plugin for twitter. Upload the twitter-tools.php file to your wp-content/plugins folder.

Go to Plugins > Installed and click Activate on the Twitter Tools box.

Then go to Settings > Twitter Tools to access the Twitter Tools Options

1. Twitter Username/Password – Key in your username and password and click the Test Login Info Button (red box)

Now you can choose to either create a daily digest post (1 post a day) or a Weekly Digest Post (1 post a week). I prefer the daily digest post to break up my tweets to daily posts.

2. Daily Digest Post – Choose YES at “Create a daily digest blog post from your tweets?” and set the time. Then change the “Title for daily digest posts” if you want.

3. Weekly Digest Post – Choose YES at “Create a weekly digest blog post from your tweets?” and set the time. Then change the “Title for weekly digest posts” if you want.

You can also choose YES for both and change the other settings but these three are the most important. Click [Save Settings] button

Wait for a few days for your blog to be updated from Twitter. For weekly updates, you might hv to wait a week or so. Your blog will then look like this (with weekly digest activated)

You can install a new theme and change it to daily or weekly digest and your twitter backup will then be like this.

Its been a while since I wrote a tutorial yea? Here’s something about spoiler tags and how to include them into your blog. This tutorial is for both WordPress.org hosted blogs and free Blogger/Blogspot blogs.

The WordPress plugin that im currently using to hide my spoilers is wpSpoiler. This is especially useful when I want to write reviews on movies or books and I don’t want to reveal information that might spoil it for someone else.Click here to show spoiler

How do you add this plugin to your website? Just download it from the site (click the link above), make changes in the PHP file to change the language and wallah! All you have to do is put your info between tags like this [ spoiler ] This is a hidden text [ /spoiler ] and you’re all set.

Spoilers for Blogger – Part 1 :Editing the Theme

This is for you folks who host your blogs on blogger and have blogspot.com in your blog URL. It requires a little more work and is a bit more complicated so listen up.

First of all, go to your Dashboard >> Template >> Edit HTML

Then look for this line: ]]></b:skin> and </head> . There are two parts of codes.
First part, insert this code BEFORE ]]></b:skin>

.commenthidden {display:none;} .commentshown {display:inline;}

Then add this code AFTER ]]></b:skin> and BEFORE </head>

Your HTML coding should now look like this. Example:

Save settings. Thats one part done. Phew!

Spoilers for Blogger – Part 2 : Creating spoilers in blog post

To add spoilers to your blog post, click Create A Post and click Edit Html (its on the top right next to ‘Compose’). Then add this bit of code:

<br /> <a aiotitle=”click to expand” href=”javascript:togglecomments(‘SPOILER_NAME’)” mce_href=”javascript:togglecomments(‘SPOILER_NAME’)”>expand</a></p> <div class=”commenthidden” id=”SPOILER_NAME”> PUT YOUR HIDDEN TEXT HERE </div> <p>

You can change SPOILER_NAME to anything you want but make sure that they are both EXACTLY the same. The <a aiotitle> and <div> dont have to be close to each other, as long as they are in the same post and have the exact same name. It will work.
