Happy Birthday Mama Bat
her blog
Chinese New Year has always been a time of fun for me. Back when I was living in KK (1997-2003) it has always been a time for friends. CNY Eve would be spend hanging around the annual CNY night market and on the 1 day there would be a church service followed by lunch out with friends and house visiting. First Aaron (the usual driver) would pick me up – while managing to collect an angpau (red packet filled with money, standard amount would be RM2-5) from my parents – then on to pick up other friends (usually either Yappy, Anderson, Karen, Brian, Jeremy).
Then we would begin our rounds of visiting all the youth and nibbling and eating at every house. Its impolite to decline offers of food and drink. Then we’d visit most of the aunties and uncles that we knew, after usually ringing them up to be sure they were home.
It wasn’t really the money that made it enjoyable, but the company of friends, laughing, eating, telling stories and anecdotes. Those were the days.
Despite being a half-Bidayuh, half-Chinese, I’m not fluent in Cantonese (which is the dialect my mom speaks) or Hakka (which is what most ppl in KK speak). I can however pick up the general idea of what people are trying to say. Which is a shame because I should be able to speak my mother’s language.
Anyway, this year, I celebrated CNY at my mom’s hometown – Tg Malim, Perak. We left Damansara ard 4.30 pm then arrive d here in about an hour or so. Saw 2 accidents on the way within 10 KM of each other. Tsk tsk..drivers these days.
Got back, ate a little bit then went promptly to the room to sleep (read : hide & pass time) because there’s nothing to do and no one attempts to speak to us in something other than Cantonese so I might as well take a nap after I type this. Zzzzz

I’ll be going to Tg Malim tomorrow afternoon and coming back that night. Then going back there on Thursday. Time to collect angpaus. Im utterly broke ![]()
oh yes,
Missing u lots my dear *huggles* *muaks*
Ok so im a bit late but Merry Christmas too all my beloved friends (and that includes YOU!) ![]()

As a Christian, i do celebrate Christmas.
Every year (prior to this one) Im busy as early as November, organizing, practising, recording, writing scripts, directing. Active in carolling, music team, tamborine dance, sunday school christmas party, christmas eve drama, christmas day drama….and the list goes on. I had make all my cards and spend loads of money buying presents for friends
This year, i decided to take a break. I pulled out of everything. I also didnt feel like doing anything. But its also because I still feel like i dont fit in here. My sisters are doin some perfomance thingy and my dad is putting up signs and stuff for this Christmas bazaar were having somewhere…im not sure. I didnt go shopping to buy christmas gifts or clothes. The only christmasy thing i did was to send out store-bought cards, buy a small present for Lian coz i know he’s sending me a package and buy prezzie for aaron & yapp (that was my sis idea, i juz supply 1/2 d money).
In short, its just going goin to be the simplest Christmas I know.
Oh yeah, my mom bought me a red top for Christmas..according to her, its from Korea so its RM 35 if im not mistaken. So here’s the pic. Click for a bigger pic
Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here’s the important part:
1. If you see a wish you can grant, and it’s in your heart to do so, make someone’s wish come true.
2. You needn’t spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn’t to put people out, it’s to provide everyone a chance to be someone else’s holiday elf–to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not–it’s your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just…wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you’ll have the joy of knowing you made someone’s holiday special.
My List:
1. Digital pictures of friends from 2003 and earlier (Curtin pics especially). My PC got reformatted and I dont have some pics *cries*. Please email them to my yahoo. That has 1G storage ![]()

3. “Deception Point” and/or “Digital Fortress” by Dan Brown
4. Roses, can be one or one dozen. I have never gotten flowers before (sad case rite). Preferably from a guy fren lah!
