So one fine day I got an email inviting me to an event. Nandos Malaysia was organizing their first ever Cluckers event with 20 “peri peri lovers” who are bloggers and twitterers.

We’re going laser tag then late lunch tomorrow so it should be quite interesting. I’ll do a full post later!

P/s: I love laser tag (tho I’m not that good at it. Haha)

Merry Christmas 2010

Posted by on December 24, 2010  |  1 Comment

Christmas rolls around and I’m busy baking and cooking stuff.

choccrinkle baking

Been testing out some recipes. One is Chocolate Crinkles but they turned out a bit too flat so might want to try that again. Its one of my favourite cookies but I’ve never done it for myself. Also my mom did her usual pineapple tarts.

kitchen

Have been busy cooking as well. Having a small makan-makan on Sunday and I’ve already been busy preparing (helping mom) cook. Also tested out making my own pizza. Its really not as hard as I thought it would be. I think part of the reason why we’re rajin is coz we have a new revamped kitchen. Whee!

So anyway, to those who are celebrating, Merry Christmas and to those who are not, have a great holiday!

Internet Explorer 9 BETA OUT NOW!

Posted by on October 6, 2010  |  2 Comments

I got invited to Microsoft Malaysia’s (@MS_Msia) event announcing the beta release of its newest web browser, the Internet Explorer 9.

After a night of beer, wine and nibbles (chicken drummets were nice!), Mr Jonathan Wong (@armchairdude) the APAC Internet Explorer Lead of Microsoft explained the few key features of the new IE 9.

ie9

Two Major things I like in the IE9:

(1) Seamless integration with Win 7 – You can dock/snap it along the side (like any other window in Win 7), among other things.

(2) Pinning – This is the best part. You can PIN a bookmark to the task bar. Not only that, IE9 is smart enough to re-skin the window based on primary colours in the pinned site’s favicon. Cool and useful. Me likes!

Some other key features:

  • Hardware Acceleration – The browser allows you to have new graphic capabilities and improved performance thanks to Hardware accelerated text, video and graphics.
  • HTML5/CSS3 Support – the boon of most web developers/designers is the fact that IE is most non-compliant, especially CSS wise. Meaning what works in every other browser breaks in IE. Not any more
  • Clean browser User Interface – No more clunky toolbars on top, everything is streamlined to just one line – with the tab and menu.
  • More Features - http://www.beautyoftheweb.com/#/productguide/top-features

On October 1st, Downloads for IE9 beta surpassed the 6 million mark just two weeks after its release. Not only that, Netmarket’s latest stats show that IE9 users accounted for 0.25% of the browser market. [source] Quite impressive for a new browser ey?

Interested to try it out yourself? Head down to http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/ and click the [Get the Beta] button on the top right. Have fun!

Free Access to FB in Malaysia via Facebook Zero

Posted by on June 1, 2010  |  5 Comments

From the facebook blog last month:

Today, we are launching another way for people to access Facebook anytime, anywhere: 0.facebook.com. 0.facebook.com is a new mobile site that includes all of the key features of Facebook but is optimized for speed. It initially is available through more than 50 mobile operators in 45 countries and territories with zero data charges.Collaborating with operators from around the world, we developed this new mobile site with two main attributes:

  • It’s fast: 0.facebook.com includes all the key features of our standard mobile site m.facebook.com. Users can update their status, view their News Feed, like or comment on posts, send and reply to messages, or write on their friends’ Wall just as they do on Facebook.com. Rather than making photos viewable on 0.facebook.com, we put the photos one click away so they don’t slow down the experience. You can still view any photos on Facebook if you want but your regular data fees will apply.
  • It’s free: Thanks to the help of mobile operators we collaborated with, people can access 0.facebook.com without any data charges. Using 0.facebook.com is completely free. People will only pay for data charges when they view photos or when they leave 0.facebook.com to browse other mobile sites. When they click to view a photo or browse another mobile site a notification page will appear to confirm that they will be charged if they want to leave 0.facebook.com
  • I actually read this news some time back and was waiting on when Digi would actually roll it out. And today they posted an update on their Facebook page saying that they are officially launching Facebook Zero.

So I tested out Facebook Zero on my iPhone using both Safari and Opera but it didn’t work. So I switched my simcard to my Sony Ericsson C905 and managed to access http://0.facebook.com – please dont add the www because some people reported an error.

Note: This service is exclusively available for Digi customers only

    More screenshots from my C905:

    Youtube within Gmail? Nice!

    Posted by on February 24, 2010  |  1 Comment

Guess what I saw in my inbox today. A colleague sent me a youtube link and it instantly got added as a embedded file. Not only that, it loads and plays within youtube itself.Weirdly, i tested it out on my personal Gmail account and it doesnt work. Neither does it work on my other Google Apps domain emails. Just this particular one.

    Interesting ey?

Facebook users mistakes ReadWriteWeb.com as their login page

Posted by on February 12, 2010  |  No Comments

When ReadWriteWeb came out with their article, I bet they didn't expect to have a lot of readers landing on their site from Google.com looking for the facebook login page by typing "facebook login" in to the search bar. For some reason, the article was higher than the actual facebook login page so the confused facebook users started leaving comments. Hilarious!
