Do girls look good in big sunglasses?

Posted by on August 10, 2008  |  4 Comments

There’s this thread in this forum that I’m active in which lists down “5 Women’s Styles/Fashion that Men Hate”. The five things on the list were :

  1. Cheek piercings
  2. Excessive makeup/foundation
  3. Pets as accessories
  4. High Belts
  5. Giant Sunglasses

Well i kinda agree with the first three. I mean I’m ok with piercings and tattoos but for it to be in somewhere obvious and poking out is a bit unprofessional and in my mind, not very nice. The excessive makeup thingy is such a turn off especially if its the wrong blend of colors. Pets as accessories is wrong on so many levels. Paris hilton wannabe?

Actually im kinda on the fence about num 4 – High Belts. I think thats its nice but only on certain people and certain outfits. You must hv enough style sense to actually pull this off.

Big sunglasses however are hot (to me that is). Not those that are gigantic and covers half of your face. I mean those really nice sunglasses like the ones the celebs wear. It has to match the size of your face also. There are lots of different types of designs that you can see online. I like something like this:

Gorgeous rite? And it only costs $14.95! I got a similar one but in a darker brown which i use when driving. Should probably get a new one soon tho. Hehe!

Cute Rubber Stamps

Remember those cute little rubber stamps? When I was younger I loved this so much! I insisted that my parents bought me this everytime we went to the kedai runcit (sundry shop). Its twelve square and cyclindrical sticks with various types of expressions and designs with a stamp at the end of the stick. It also comes with a small rectangle of notepad and an even smaller square of ink pad. I think I drove my parents crazying trying to mark every single paper with those stamps. Luckily for some reason I didn’t stamp our whole walls. Haha! Its hard to resist white walls and stamp in brightly colored smileys in red, yellow or green.

Then there was those times that I paid a visit to my dad’s office and he had all those rubber stamps with “Urgent”, “Paid”, “Priority”, “Approved”, “From the desk of.” all in different-different colours. Ah, those were the days. Now you can order your own pre-designed Rubber Stamps. Even with funny phases like, “WTF!?!”, “Who Cares?” and “Blah, blah, blah.” You can also use the coupon code Stamps50 for a discount of 50% on Small Rubber Stamps. Nice eh?

I think I wana get one saying “Approved by http://me.zestful.org

Car Noob

Posted by on July 13, 2008  |  No Comments

I would be the first to admit that I don’t know anything about cars or motocycles or any other vehicle for that matter. Anything with an engine and wheels eludes me. All I know is how to drive my car, fill it with petrol and change tyres (well, at least I know how to change the tyres by myself!).

When I was in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, I met up with Taufan. He drove one of his father’s car and he had this cool device on it. I think its like a Car DVD Player that can play music and has an in-built GPS I think (because I think saw the GPS device thingy). The best part is, when reversing, it shows a feed of the back view so that you don’t accidently hit anything or anyone. When I saw it, i told Taufan, “OMG! I need that for my car.”

Even though I know nothing about cars, I do want to change my CD player in the car because currently it plays only audio CDs and I want it to play MP3 CDs. Oh, I just checked and apparently its called a In-Dash Car Receiver. LOL! Told you I’m a noob.

Hurm, I don’t have an Emergency Road Kit in my car. Well I do have one plastic bag with tampons/pads in case of an emergency but I don’t have a first aid kit in the car. Should I get one? I do have a flashlight tho. Hurm..

Visa Gift Cards

Gift Card Lab

You know how some stores like Borders have gift cards? Come to think of even some restaurants like McDonalds and Starbucks also have those. The bad thing is, you can only use those gift cards at places that issued them.

Sometimes I wish that I could use those gift cards in other places. Well you can by buying Visa Gift Cards. Think disposable visa debit cards. Convinient. Not only that you can even put your own picture to customize it for family or put your logo to give to your customers.

For Disney Fans

Posted by on June 16, 2008  |  No Comments

I grew up with a lot of influence from Disney. From storybooks to colouring books to movies, my parents believed in giving me wholesome entertainment. I was excited to find that Beauty and the Beast musical is coming to town! Yay! ‘ve always loved musicals, the great lyrics, the beautiful singing, the well choreographed dancing. Too bad I’m broke now if not I’d get tickets instantly.

You know what would be even better? Going to New Jersey. Here are some things to do in New Jersey : Vacationing in Morey Piers and attending the Radio Disney Summer Concert Series. Its one of the many Wildwood events this year. Best part is, its totally FREE! So all I’d have to pay is the accommodation at Cape May hotels.

This show is going to feature Disney Celebrities such as Raven-Symone from Disney Channel’s “That’s so Raven” and the currently showing Walt Disney movie, “College Road Trip” starring Martin Lawrence and Raven-Symone. The July 26th concert will also feature Mitchell Musso from the “Hannah Montana Show”.

Blogger Newbies

Posted by on June 2, 2008  |  No Comments

Lately there has been a lot of new bloggers. These are people who jumped on to the bandwagon and decided that they want to be bloggers because (i)They want to keep a journal online (ii)Their friends are doing it (iii)They think its cool (iv) Even Malaysia’s ex-prime minister is doing it and (v) they want to make money.

The thing about them is, they like open topics in forums asking this and that, hoping to be spoon fed. What they don’t realize is that with the power of google there are so many websites that give really good information. From simple web hosting articles to online HTML/PHP lessons, everything is just at the end of your fingertips nowadays.

Ah, the convenience.

Stress induced Acne :(

Posted by on June 1, 2008  |  No Comments

Oh no! Due to my stress (?) over exams and projects, pimples have popped out on my face. :( That’s probably the worst nightmare of every girl. Especially for someone like me who almost never has breakouts. I’m not even familiar with any acne product.

However, My sister has sensitive skin, so she does know about some acne products on the market. She usually uses products that are recommended by her dermatologist. Its still rather hard to find the best acne products that will suit my face so I guess I hv to just make some trial and errors.

Lighting in 3d

Posted by on May 29, 2008  |  1 Comment

I went for my 3ds presentation yesterday. I have a robot-like character in a box. The story is, the character wakes up and stands up and walk towards the door. He (or rather, it) tries to open the door using the door knob but its locked. Then it takes a chainsaw and tries to saw the door down. He fails. Then he gets an axe and tries to chop it down. Finally he decides to run and push against the door.

So anyway, I showed it to my lecturer the other day. He said it was okay but my animation was a bit too slow :( I lost around half marks for that. The other major thing that was missing in my animation was lighting. I didn’t have enough lights to brighten up my scene so the scene looks dull and rather plain. Another thing was I didn’t have any lights inside my box so the robot was dark. He encouraged me to use spotlights – in real life it would be something like Golights – to shine on the robot.

I think that lighting is very important in 3d, especially if you’re creating something realistic. This is because you have to ensure that all the shadows and stuff are correct – just like in real life.

Still so much work to be done on my project. *sigh*

Sell your eggs?

Posted by on May 24, 2008  |  1 Comment

I once came across this post in a forum that was looking for women to donate their eggs for RM3500. The post was deleted soon after by forum moderators because it sounded too much like a scam.

Scams aside, I think that fertility clinics are really doing a very positive thing. Its sad for couples who would love to have a child but can’t due to some complications. One thing they can do is the IVF procedure where the egg (from the woman) is extracted and then the sperm is added. Then a few days later, the developing embryo is placed into the woman’s uterus. The babies are commonly known as test tube babies.

Wonderful isn’t it, this world of new medical technologies?

Promote your blog offline

Posted by on May 24, 2008  |  1 Comment

As I was blog hopping, I came across ways to promote your blog offline. One suggestion was to make a business card to promote your name, id and blog. The idea was, in our daily life, we meet so many people and have so much opportunities to promote our blog to them. If you just mention it, they might forget or misspell your blog name. But with a business card, its easier to remember the business card and thus, your URL.

I remember some time ago when I went to Blogger Booze – a bloggers meet in a pub in Hartamas, there was this guy passing out business cards. I thought he was promoting his company or job but it only had his name, nickname and blog URL on it. Well then, come to think of it,why stop at business cards?why not just make address stickers or fliers? Then again, perhaps that is too over the top.

Anyway, i think the blog card is good especially if you are a blogger who often goes to blog meets and gatherings. Then you can pass out your card to the other bloggers there.

Would you ever make a business card for your blog?
