Its May again. That time of the year that the radios, TVs and newspapers are full of advertisements on Mother’s Day. Its quite funny actually because they promote everything from electrical appliances, buffet dinners at hotels to exercise machines.

But honestly, I have no idea of what to get my mom for Mother’s Day. I think my dad is going to get his usual flowers for her. Usually we all cook her a good home cooked meal while she relaxes or my parents go out dating at some fancy restaurant. I wonder what should I get her this year.

I guess its lucky that I live with my parents because then I’d have to have to think about mothers day gift delivery and how much the postage will cost.

Oh well, its three weeks away, plenty of time to think of what to get.

I was digging thru my blog and found this poem i wrote in 2004. Its titled ‘Crimson Butterfly’ and a metaphor of the innocent children and woman who are victims of crimes.

A white pair of wings flits by softly
Passing valleys, streams and rivers wide
Resting on flower beds, bushes and trees lazily
In and out of beautiful petals it hides

A picture of serenity we behold
Of a white butterfly passing by
But something is about to happen
To wreck havoc in this peaceful world

A sound is heard in the distance
The only sound which breaks the silence
A fast-moving object whizzes through the air
As a small sharp bolt moves intently on its target

Then suddenly, the butterfly stops in midair
And falls to the ground slowly
It lies on the ground with wings outstretched
And a silent cry echoes through the woods.

Unexpectedly blood gushes out of its frail being
Leaving its white wings stained
Bloody crimson on pure white, a sharp contrast
A lifeless creature soon to be forgotten.

Soon after, a thunder resounds
And soft raindrops fall on the earth
Cleansing the earth, leaving it pure again
And hoping for a better future

When I was younger, I wished to self publish a book of all my poems but as I grew older, I stopped writing because I had no inspiration or time. Perhaps I should continue writing and one day achieve my dream of writing my own book.

There are tons of hosting horror stories that I’ve heard from my friends.

First is from pakngah (pakngah.org) who hosting his blog on some Malaysian hosting company and they lost his database. Yea, all his previous posts and comments, all gone. Not once, but TWICE! I think that is the nightmare of every blogger. I can’t imagine how I would react if my blog disappeared.

Then I have this friend, Khai (justkhai.com) , who hosted his forum, blog hosting service and his own personal blog on a Malaysian hosting. He was sponsored by them. The bad thing is, their hosting is always experiencing downtime. And when their servers are down, all the employees disappear so the users are left hanging and wondering.

So what is a good web hosting company? Well firstly, find a company that is reliable. Google the company name and see if anyone has complained about it in forums, websites or in their blog. Then make sure that the company is established. Thirdly, look for a plan that suits your needs. Those are the basic three tips to looking for a good hosting company. You can google more articles such as “web hosting”, “creating a blog”, “what is html” and so on to gain more information before choosing the right web host. Good luck!

The other day a friend of mine was asking if there was any florist near my area. So I googled some florists and checked out prices for flowers because he wanted to send flowers to a friend of his for her birthday.

I didn’t realize it was so easy to order flowers online nowadays. All you have to do is go to the florist’s website, choose from a wide selection of different bouquets and arrangements, pay and its delivered to the receiver’s doorstep.

So, anyone who wants to send flowers to me for Valentine’s day can email me for my address. Hehe :)
