My Genting Trip

Friday
Jul 14,2006

The Genting trip was uber-fun!! We had such a great time riding this and that, taking photos here and there. But im getting waaay ahead of myself.

We all met up at KL Central at around 8am. Oh i actually met Aaron and Hiro (Rachel’s housemate - a Japanese student studying in Miri) and we proceeded to buy tickets to Genting. Looking at the timetable, we decided on going at 9am. So I told the ticket seller:

Me : Bang, empat tiket ke genting kul 9am
Ticket Seller (TS) : nak balik kul brapa?
Me : Err….*turns back to the others* what time u wana go back? *after some deliberations* ohh kul 3.30 (pm).
TS : Takde kul 3.30. Ada kul 3 ngan 4 je.
Aaron : *sampuk from the back* Kul 3.30 ada tak?
The rest of us : Lerrrr……

The bus going there was at 8.30am because the cable car was not working so the bus goes all the way to the top. On the way, Rach and I were gossiping talking and gossiping laughing about the people we knew back in Curtin and KK. She was telling me stories and likewise. Ohh I miss the people back in KK and Curtin. So many memories.
We finally reached Genting after a whole lot of tosses and turns. And was hungry so we went to scout around for food. All of us wanted to have Burger King but at that time they were only selling the breakfast set so we went to McDs for their McEgg/Sausage Muffin. Oh and I had a cone sundae - so mahal oo..rm2 for the kecik one. But it is Genting, so understandable.

Then we walked around all the hotels in Genting and also peeked into the casino. I got stopped by the pak guard coz Im underaged :( Im turning 21 in September so they didnt let me in. Hiro was also stopped because he was using sandals. So both of us juz waited outside lepaking and attempted to make small talk :P We also stopped by the WorldCard Office in Genting to upgrade Rach and Aaron’s one while Hiro and I applied for new cards - its free maaa. If i known earlier, i could have collected so much points from starbucks and coffeebean.

Only after that did we enter the outdoor theme park and got ourselves the wristband and played all the rides. One of the smaller roller coasters was closed for maintainance so we didnt get to ride on that. And we also didnt ride on the Super Tobaggan coz it has a weight limit of 70kg and below - only rach was within the limit and she didnt want to go alone.

There was a new - well, not so new - ride called flying coaster where you are lying on your stomach as it goes around the track. But for some weird reason they painted it Spiderman-red-and-blue-with-black-web-markings. I thought they should have painted it more towards the theme of Superman. Anyway we all bought a photo souvenier of the ride :D

After a whole afternoon of walking and playing all the rides and cam-whoring at all the weirdest places. We had lunch at Pizza Hut - the cheesy bites pizza. Then took the bus back to KL Central.

P/s: I got a fever the moment i got back..probably the change in the weather and the fact that I didnt sleep the night before.

On the way to Seremban
Road trip

Sorry I havent been updating for a long time, been busy on the road. As you can see from my previous post, I’ve started working. Im a simultaneous (sp?) translator for this research company so I have to translate the conversation between the interviewer and interviewee from BM to english.

The disadvantages of this is that I have to be really fast to translate the conversation to english and they dont really give me time between sentences to do that. The advantages is that the pay is rather good (im earning in 3 days what Pam earns in a month :P) and i get to travel…and travel I do jet-setter la konon.

I had to take a road trip to Seremban on Thursday. Was at JW Marriot in KL at 8am before we set off to go to Seremban after stopping near Mint Hotel to pick up more team members. At first i wanted to snap pics of my trip and my first day at my first job but then because we were moving around with the clients, I didnt feel its professional. The picture at the top is a rather boring view of the road trip to Seremban.

What i brought
Reading materials, notebook, wallet, sweater

On Friday I had to fly off to Penang. I was soo tired because even tho i took a nap Thurs evening, I actually went out clubbing and didnt get to sleep before I had to rush to KL Central before 5.30 so I could check in there and take a ERL to KLIA for my 7.30am flight. Only grabbed a few things (as seen in the above pic) to take on my day trip.

Penang was sooooo blooody hot!! And i didnt get to eat penang char kuay teow :( or nasi kandar or any penang delicacies. Rugi, but then again im there for work, not a holiday. Oh my job was much easier in Penang because two of our three interviewees could speak excellent english. Oh our flight was delayed tho :( and the Penang airport was soo boring and uncomfortable.

Empty ERL ERL

Got back kinda late because I met up with a chatter who’s working at KLIA and we had a little bit of coffee and talked for a while. Then i had to rush to the ERL coz i had to take an LRT back home to KJ.

Last Tuesday, I had to go down to JB. I took a smarter way by staying over at my frens place near KL on Monday night and checked in at KL central monday evening after buying my ERL to-and-fro ticket. So I didnt have to get up as early as last friday (i was supposed to get up at 4.30 so i ended up not sleeping). I got up at 5.45am, got ready and caught a cab to Central then had to wait for the next ERL to KLIA. I got there juz on time, it was already calling but there was still ppl who juz started to go into the plane.

For lunch I managed to have Nasi padang. It was yummylicious, i especially loved the chicken curry and the sambal belacan. Sedap ooo. I think im improving on my translation now that I’ve had lots of practice :D

Am soo tired now due to lack of sleep the past few days. so Im goin to call it a night. Chalo~

CNY Celebrations

Monday
Feb 6,2006

I went to tanjung malim on CNY eve. First we had dinner at my house with just my immediate family. We had steamboat for dinner. Had lotsa food and it was nice because it’s been some time since we ate together as a family due to tuitions, work and school conflicts.

Left our house around 11 something and reached Tg Malim slightly past midnight. Had this vegetarian dish with tang hoon (something like mee hoon), black fungus, water chestnuts, foo chuk (beancurd sheets), mushrooms and other odds and ends. Kinda forgot to take a pic of it :P

Collected angpaus from relatives then got back here at 3am. Had to make cookies and such until around 4am. Finally ended up not sleeping :P

The other days were filled with staying at home, goin out to see people, sleeping over at friend’s houses. Until Saturday. Was at KLCC the whole day. Supposed to meet up with a friend who came down from terengganu about making a website for her, but what I did not know was that she invited a whole bunch of chatters I didnt know friends so ended up as a gathering.

Went back, and all the relatives were at the house because my mom organized a dinner at our place since my relatives have not been to our new house. We had roasted chicken, chicken cooked in ginger, mixed vege with abalone, pork talo (a Sarawakian dish a bit like masak kicap but nicer with some spices, serai and stuff, usually cooked with duck), rice and yong tau foo (stuffed tau foo & vege).

Took loads of pics with my cousins, most of which I only see once a year. Will post them up later.

Holiday moliday

Tuesday
Jan 3,2006

I was away on holiday since 23rd Dec until 30 Dec with my family. First we balik kampung to Kuching to celebrate Christmas with my father’s side of the family. It was nostalgic to go back to Kuching after an absence of 1.5 yrs (the last trip only lasted 2 days because I didnt have much holidays). Managed to meet up with Heidi & Isla - went for dinner then stayed over at their place. Went to Bla bla bla Restaurant (yeap, it really is the name of the restaurant) for cakes and tea. really yummy and cheaper than starbucks or kupibin. Came back late at nite on 27th dec.

Then we went to Bali the very next day in the morning. Flight was delayed from 10.30am to 1 pm (airasia, as usual). Finally reached Ngurah Rai International Airport in the evening. We stayed in Holiday Villa in Den Pasar (i think), next to the public beach. Walked down the beach, taking in the sights and sounds, eating lamb satay (small and pedas) and jagung bakar (tasted kering). The next day went sightseeing - volcanic mountains, paddy terraces, markets, palaces. Sadly i forgot to pack my digital camera but we had a 27 exposure disposable cam so we still managed to take a few pics. We managed to walk around in Kuta for a bit, its where the shopping malls and stuff are. There werent many tourists tho.

Almost everything there was much cheaper than over here. Feel rich coz the currency is so small that you’re dealing in thousands. 2500 rupiah is 1 ringgit so the converting was a bit confusing - especially if ur trying to haggle.
