Get One Million FREE Facebook Credits with U Mobile + Giveaway!

Posted by on July 5, 2011  |  1 Comment

I’ve been traveling a lot lately, well alternate weekends anyway so posted this a bit late. Heh

Anyway a couple of weeks back, I was invited to the  “1Million Facebook Credits Giveaway with U Mobile” party . The event was held at DELIcious, Marc Residences on a workday evening. I got there quite on time I think but they started late – I guess its due to the jam and all that. KL is really a nightmare to drive in during peak hours.

U Mobile is proud to announce that they are the FIRST TELCO in Asia to have an exclusive partnership with Facebook to offer FREE Facebook Credits with every U Mobile reload!

“I’m also happy to say that this is the first time that Facebook is partnering with any telco in Asia to give away Facebook Credits. This makes U Mobile the only telco service provider in Asia with this one-of-a-kind feature to offer its subscribers,” Dr Kaizad Heerjee, CEO of U Mobile excited about this new partnership with Facebook

Before that, what is Facebook Credits? Its used to purchase digital goods and other enhancements for more than 600 social games and applications on Facebook. FB Credits is a consistent and trusted way to make purchases. So the next time you want to water your farm, build your city or gain some kind of advantage in a Facebook game, FB Credits is the way to go!

U Mobile’s unique offering to its users is a result of its recent collaboration with Facebook, the world’s most popular social networking site, and MOL AccessPortal Sdn Bhd, the official distributor of Facebook Credits in Southeast Asia.

(I think this pic of Dr Kaizad tossing coins is cute)

“Our goal is to make Facebook Credits as accessible as possible to people everywhere that use Facebook,” said Stephen Dolan, Commercial Director for Facebook in Southeast Asia. “This collaboration with U Mobile and MOL AccessPortal will enable people to quickly and simply earn Facebook Credits for use in their favourite games and applications.”

U Mobile will be working closely with MOL AccessPortal to ensure a seamless and consistent user experience.

So how do you get the Facebook Credits? For every RM20 top-up or more, subscribers will receive 2 Facebook Credits and 1 Credit with an additional reload of RM10. There’s a daily cap of 20 Credits per user per day and a monthly cap of 50 credits per month. It just takes some simple steps :

  1. Like the Facebook page – http://www.facebook.com/umobilesb
  2. Reload your prepaid U Mobile account and you will receive a code via SMS
  3. Go to the Facebook page and click “U Mobile Facebook Credit Redemption” (or http://on.fb.me/umobilefb)
  4. Key in your code = Get free credit!

After the launch ceremony, we played a couple of games which were quite fun. One was collecting gold coins (chocolate coins) scattered/stuck all over DELIcious. There were on the trees, on the walls, at the tables. Was quite funny to see people poking all around to find coins. Another was everyone was given half a coin and we had to find our “match” and we can redeem the code.

Throughout the event we also played a game on Twitter. There were a number of questions asked and the first  person to get his/her followers to answer the most questions correctly will win a prize. Thanks to awesome Twitter friends like @nescagraff and gang, I won a HTC Wildfire! Its not often I win games at events so I was quite happy!

Thank you U Mobile for the fun night! ^_^

My opinion on the 1.8Mil spent by the Tourism Ministry on Facebook

Posted by on June 15, 2011  |  5 Comments

Everyone is talking about the MYR 1.8Mil spent by the Tourism Ministry on Facebook. There are many who seem to be jumping to conclusions and running around like a headless chicken, panicking that 1.8mil of the rakyat’s money is used to setup a free Facebook Page. I’m not on anyone’s side, but consider this:

According to Msian Insider, the contract includes : costs for designing, flash programming and coding, testing and debugging, uploading and launching the application, system server deployment and campaign management.

The 1.8 million is for 6 Facebook pages, not one, SIX. That amounts to an average of MYR300k per page. Which includes what seems to be a Facebook app created in Flash. Creating an app can range from a couple of hundreds to thousands. Not to mention perhaps they have not rolled out all of their plans yet – which is why the page looks rather empty.

Someone asked me, do you need a server with Facebook? Well you need to host your app somewhere don’t you? And depending on how elaborate and complicated it is, the cost will be different.

Note that in this case, we’re not told the exact details

  1. How long is the contract? Is it 3 years? 1 year? is it 6 months? is it 3 months?
  2. Does it include contest prizes cost?
  3. Does it include Facebook ads cost? Or other network advertising? Says. My? Nuffnang? Advertlets?

These are all the questions that should be answered.

Personally, I think the price is quite high, but it’s Reasonable IF they do actually fulfill everything in the scope above. (p/s: dont forget to factor in any misc expenses like under tables, etc).

Again, not being on anyone’s side here. Just stating facts. What’s your opinion?

How to change the new Facebook Photo “Lightroom” Viewer back to the old version

Posted by on February 18, 2011  |  2 Comments

Don’t you hate the new Facebook Photo Viewer that’s with that “lightroom” effect? I seriously dislike it a lot! Its so annoying and doesn’t enhance the user experience at all, in my opinion.

I found a simple way to walk around this issue. Can’t remember where I saw it la, some tech site I think.

Note : In addition to the steps below, here are more steps to help “remove” the new viewer

  • Open in new tab – In Chrome I tried duplicating the tab, it seemed to remove the lightroom effect. Haven’t tried on other browsers tho. This works on other browsers like Firefox
  • Refresh the page – Pressing F5 to reload the page also works
  • Chrome Extension – If you’re using Chrome browser, download this extension. <—best method!

——————-

Here’s how to do it.

1. Click on the photo and look at the address bar (the URL at the top)

2. Remove the text “&theater” & press enter

3. Then you…..nah, that’s all you gotta do Smile with tongue out

See screenshot below. Remove the highlighted words

change facebook photo to old viewer layout

And you’ll get this…Tadaaa!

Hope that was helpful Open-mouthed smile

Do you have any more tips on how to remove this? Will add it to the list on top

Texas Hold ’em

Posted by on March 25, 2009  |  1 Comment

On facebook, most of my friends are playing Texas Hold ‘Em. Its a type of poker game commonly played in casinos. I personally have no idea how the game goes, but according to wikipedia, “is a community card game where each player may use any combination of the five community cards and the player’s own two hole cards to make a poker hand, in contrast to poker variants like stud or draw where each player holds a separate individual hand."

You can also play it online where you can get benefits like PokerStars Bonus. These Poker Star Bonus Codes allows you to receive 100% of your initial deposit up to 50USD. But its exclusive so only FlopTurnRiver members can use these PokerStars Marketing Codes.

Hurm, I better get one of my friends to explain this game to me soon :) What game are u most addicted to in Facebook?

Out with the girls

Posted by on June 20, 2008  |  No Comments

I finally quit my moping around at home and went out on Wednesday. First was tea with a guy friend with whom I’ve been postponing meeting coz of time constraints. Then I met up with Pam, Aree, Jazzy, Ayman & Taufan at Empress Cafe, Curve. I had a bottle of shisha. Wee~ shisha makes me happy :P Then lepaked and chit-chatted with Pam and her friends at Idaman till around 2am plus.

On Thursday we woke up and Aree came over and we had lunch at this nice place in KJ that serves N9 food. Sedap (no pics tho coz we were starving and instantly attacked the food). Then we went over to Bangsar for a pampering session – threading my eyebrows which looked totally bushy and wild and also cutting my hair at PeekABoo which is getting way too long and heavy. Didn’t do much to it, just trimmed it 2 inches and layered it. But I love this new hairstyle, lighter and easier to maintain i think.

That night we painted the town red by deciding to club in Ghetto Heaven @ Zouk. Met up with Jazzy and Ayman there. Taufan also stopped by for a bit. It was just us girls (and Ayman) and it was fun. Not to mention that girls get 2 drinks free and pam gave me hers so I was downing 3 tequila shots on top of 1 jug of Long Island Tea and some Vodka lime.

Went home kinda early, chit chat and had a smoke of the good stuff (lol!) before drifting off into dreamless sleep. Two solid days with the girls has really rejuvenated my spirits. I love you babes >:D<

Pictas! Surprisingly we didn’t take a lot. I was too busy drinking to take and the others were too busy enjoying themselves
