Theme Change : Polaris

Posted by on April 7, 2011  |  No Comments

blogtheme_6aprYea, its yet another theme change. I’ve lots my mood/time/inspiration for blogging and usually a theme change does the trick.

Its really hard to find a theme that isn’t full of huge photos (I don’t really post up a lot of photos on my blog so it seems like there’s no point if my theme features photos) or a magazine style. I settled for this one instead.

Previously I was using simplista (pic on left) but currently  using Polaris by WPCorner. Free theme of course

The admin page for this is rather confusing as there are extra options for mobile and Menus. Odd. But I guess this is ok for now. Needs more tweaking though – mainly the header to change the logo and also the categories above.

I also upgraded my PHP version to v5 so I’m there are no errors *fingers crossed*

Tutorial : Use a WordPress blog to backup your Twitter tweets

Posted by on December 28, 2009  |  3 Comments

Okay, first you will have to setup a new wordpress blog or you can use your existing one. In this tutorial, i set up a new wordpress blog at TwitterBackup to separate my tweets from my blog posts.

If you’re using a separate blog for your twitter posts first thing you need to do is go to the Settings > Discussion and Uncheck “Allow people to post comments on new articles”. This is so that people can’t comment on your posts.

Yet another WordPress Theme

I wasn’t too happy at my old theme. its nice and fully customizable – even with the option of change the sidebar to the left or right. But i wanted something more minimal and magazine-like.

So here’s a new theme :D Not done by me (of course). Yes, took out the ads for now. Will decide if I want to put it in later. The new theme has more emphasis on my twitter feeds – because I’m quite active there now. It also has Asides, so that I can share short snippets.

Might be editing it more as time progresses. Don’t like the fact that the recent post’s image is not automatically grabbed like the recent posts/featured.

Comments and feedback much appreciated

New Look, New Theme

Posted by on September 14, 2009  |  7 Comments

Found this really nice theme online – Simple Balance 2.2.1 by Alex Cristache(credits in footer) and decided that my birthday is sometime this month, it was time for a fresh new look for my blog as well :D

This is probably the 3rd or 4th design so far. I only lightly tweaked this theme. Didn’t change much because I like how it looks already. Just added some extra queries to eliminate certain categories and also added a leaderboard ad.

This is how the old theme looks like – left pic. Click for full size screenshot. It was Smashing Theme by Design Disease (http://wp-themes.designdisease.com). Right screenshot is how it looks like currently (might be slightly changed in the future.

So what do you think? Comments & feedback is much appreciated :D

Theme Change!

Posted by on June 12, 2008  |  No Comments

I kinda got annoyed with the fixed width of my previous theme Areia Azul which was smaller than 400px and I can’t change it. Plus it was looking a bit too cluttered. So I decided to change themes. It was surprisingly fast to change themes coz I didn’t change any elements of the sidebar so it was mostly copy paste.

I’m currently using Smashing Theme – a simple mainly white with orangey highlights – by DesignDisease. I’m a big fan of DesignDisease’s very colourful free themes such as Illicrimo with its various hues of blues and yellows, GossipCity with its starry pictures (I’ve used the previous two it in my blog before) and Dilecto with its oranges and swirls (but I didn’t like the width of the post content thats why I didnt use it).

Tell me what you think?
