Baking Kuih Raya

I totally semangat to make kuih raya the other day. Aree came over to help as well. We went to Tesco to do some grocery shopping (for her) and ingredient shopping (for me). Came back and realized that I didn’t have butter at home – my mom usually buys lots because she bakes often but apparently, its finished – so we headed out to the nearest 7E to buy butter (and aree wanted to buy rokok).

So yea, I’ve always liked recipes that you can use a cookie press (dunno wut that is? click here) to make because its really convinient. So Anne posted a recipe on making Biskut Bunga Cina which is this milky sweet melt-in-your-mouth cookie. Its supposed to look like this:

But mine turned out like this :

Damn sad okay? :( Seldom my cookies and cakes tak jadi. For one thing, perhaps my oven should be put on a lower setting. Secondly, I don’t know how much condensed milk to put (she just mentioned 1 tin kecil). Thirdly, the dough hardens really fast.

    yr dough is too soft i think. kalau jadi mcm ni, jgn sedih, u tambah tepung jagung sikit, about half cup.
    pasal doh cepat keras, you have to cover it. keluarkan doh sikit2 jer, cukup untuk one tray. dah habis one tray, baru keluarkan lagi sikit. jadik takla the whole dough tu terdedah lama sangat.

    and don’t use baking powder at all.

    oh lupa nak cakap. untuk biskut bunga cina, elok klu u pakai acuan yang press dgn jari tu. they call it acuan semperit. pakai cookie press tak berapa menjadi, kalau u nak dapatkan bentuk original la.

    Hi!Anna, jangan nangis sayang….bunga x jadi tu disebabkan u bakar immediately selepas buat.Petua dari akak, anne biarkan dulu pada suhu bilik selama 7 ke 8 jam baru bakar.Insya Allah bunga tetap akan jadi cantik.Resepi akak senang aje

    1 tin tepung jagung Brown…(450 gm)
    1 tin mentega golden churn (454gm)
    2 biji telur kuning
    1 cawan gula icing
    1 1/2 cawan tepung gandum
    sedikit esen vanila

    Pukul mentega & gula hingga putih.Masukkan telur kuning & esen vanila.
    Dah tu masukkan semua tepung tu sedikit demi sedikit.
    Uli dalam 10 minit, kalau masih melekit,tambah tepung gandum.
    Terus tekan dengan acuan yang guna jari,hias dengan ceri.
    Biarkan semua dulang tu hingga 7 ke 8 jam.Bakar
    Pasti beres.

    Note: Nak tambah tepung ubi 1/2 cawan pun ok.Tapi akak selalunya tak pakai tepung ubi langsung.

    Selamat mencuba….akak baru sudah buat 600 biji ni.
