Review : Vantage Point

Thomas Barnes and Kent Taylor are two Secret Service agents assigned to protect President Ashton at a landmark summit on the global war on terror. When President Ashton is shot moments after his arrival in Spain, chaos ensues and disparate lives collide in the hunt for the assassin. In the crowd is Howard Lewis, an American tourist who thinks he’s captured the shooter on his camcorder while videotaping the event for his kids back home. Also there is American TV news producer Rex Brooks, relaying the historic event to millions of TV viewers across the globe. As they and others reveal their stories, the pieces of the puzzle will fall into place – and it will become apparent that shocking motivations lurk just beneath the surface.

I’ve been waiting for this movie for some time now since when I first saw the trailer early this year. The movie was made in the same style as that TV Series “24” where there are many events occurring at the same time. In “24”, the actions of Jack Bauer and the other characters were shown in ‘split screen’ style.

In Vantage Point however, the first scene of the movie was repeated. Yes, repeated over and over for 8 times but with different views and angles to show the different perspectives of the 8 main characters – hence the name ‘vantage point’.

The movie was very interesting and suspenseful as you didn’t know who was the bad guy and who was the good guy. It tells of a very elaborate plot to kidnap the president of the United States and how his Secret Service men tries to protect him and find out who are the kidnappers.

Go watch it!
