[Tutorial] Link Maybank Visa Debit Card with Paypal

Finally! After numerous complaints from users, Maybank’s Visa Debit card can finally be linked to Paypal. You can use it to verify your Paypal account and hopefully withdraw successfully.

I can’t really say if its possible to withdraw funds from Paypal or not because I’ve not tried it but what I can tell you is that it IS possible to link your Maybank debit card with some easy steps.

Step One
Login to your Maybank2u account. Look under Utilities and Click on Maybankcard Secure Online Shopping Registration

Step Two
Select which card you want to use. In this case, I only have one card, so that is chosen by default.

Fill in the MSOS Password (has to be between 6-8 characters) and confirm

Fill in the Personal Assurance Message. This message will appear when you are asked for your password while shopping online. I think this is to ensure that is Maybank asking for your password and not some phishing site. There must not be any characters other than a-z.

Fill in the Expired Date, CVV, Hint & Answer

Step Three
Login to www.paypal.com with your paypal email & password.

In the My Account tab, click Profile and Add/Edit Credit or Debit Card.

Key in the details of your Maybank Visa Debit Card. Make sure the address is exactly the same as your billing address.

Step Five
You will then get a verification email to your paypal account saying that you have successfully linked your card. And now all you have to do is add the code.

Step Six
Okay this is important : Wait for about ONE DAY before doing the following steps**

Login to your Maybank2u again and click on Accounts & Banking, then click on your Account number for your Account Details.

Then click on Debit Card History. You should then see an entry with the word “Paypal”. The code is the 4 numbers before the word Paypal.

Eg: PREAUTH SALE 8921PAYPAL-*EXPUSE DATED 06/08/09

**If you check your account too early, you might not see the details of the transaction and would not be able to get the code

Step Seven
Log in to www.paypal.com and click on Profile, then Add/Edit Credit or Debit Card.

Click on Enter Paypal Code and enter the code you obtained in Step Six.

Success!
And now you have successfully linked your Maybank Visa Debit Card to your Paypal. You will get the refund of USD1.95 to your Paypal account.

:: NOTES ::

  • If you have problems linking your card, check to make sure the details of the card is all correct – especially the Address. If all else fails, call the Maybank customer service.
  • I have no idea why USD 1.00 is also deducted along with the USD 1.95 when we verify the card. I didn’t have this extra charge when verifying with Al-rajhi Visa Debit Card
  • I have not tried to withdraw from Paypal to my card but I’ll be happy to hear your comments if you did try. Remember that Paypal charges USD5 per withdrawal.

    If you already link your VISA debit card sucessfully, when you pay someone via Paypal, it will deduct instantly from your card and the other party will also receive it instantly

    How to add new account to existing account in MayBank?

    For example, I have old MayBank saving account 1525xxxxzzzyyyy. From this account, I have register to internet bangking to Maybank2U.com.

    So, with only use one username and password, can I add new MayBank account: 1622yyyyzzzzxxxx into account above?

    my paypal acc verified msos registered successfully but when i wanted to sell somthing my card was authorised, so i’m stuck. Any ideas guys?

    yes, i did call maybank, they said it was some connection problem. but i still can surf the net so i dont have connection probelm right? this is what the msos registration says: unsuccessful – invokeconnection: java.io.ioexception: server returned http response code: 500 for url: https://datapower:3115/

    Thank you. I follow all the procedures. For those who have MSOS problems, it is better if you use a different MSOS password from your maybank2u password. I heard thru the grapevine if it is the same it will cause problems. Thanks for the informative article and now i have a working paypal.

    Thanks a lot for the advice. It worked for me. Appreciate the sharing of knowledge. The RM1.00 is a standard charge banks impose when paying using their online banking service. I know CIMB, RHB and Public Bank charges RM1.00 I think Al Rajhi does not imposed such charges.

    I follow this step. but I did not follow the next day. I enter the code XXXX today. so what should I do? Is my account being canceled?

    saya telah mengikut langkah ini. tetapi saya tidak mengikut pada esoknya. saya telah memasukan kod XXXX yang terakhir pada hari ini lebih kurang 10 kali. jadi apa yang perlu saya lakukan? adakah akaun saya dibatalkan?

    i have done all of your steps except for step six…after then i check my maybank acc…it appear only the “PRE-AUTH DEBIT”that charged RM 6.58 and RM1.02 but nothing mention about the code…why?

    Hey, the Card Verification Number for step three right, is it the four numbers below the VISA card number? Or the 3 number at the bahind of the card, right after the bank account number?

    Please reply ASAP, because I keep getting this error :

    This credit card has been denied by the bank that issued your credit card. For details on why your card was denied, please contact your credit card issuer’s customer service department. Or, you may want to try adding a different credit card.

    Thanks SO much for this tutorial. I’ve been trying to link my card to my Paypal for ages now, but I didn’t know about the MSOS thing.

    Honestly, Maybank isn’t any help at all in this department. Website, no info. Staff, clueless. The first branch I went to told me that Maybank cards cannot be linked to Paypal (Pffffbt) while the second branch I went to said the same thing, and that the only payment gateway I could use would be M-Something (more Pffffbt).

    When I told the person that I’ve friends who have done so before (Twitter rocks) she actually said very sarcastically for me to ask them to do it for me instead.

    Honestly that was very very bad service from Maybank. Ironically, in the pamphlet I was handed that had info on MSOS stated right at the bottom “Can I use Paypal to pay for my Maybankard Visa Debit online purchases? YES YOU CAN”.

    I got mistake when verifying the code for 3 times, paypal told me to fax some documents to them to verify by fax or my account couldn’t be verified through the website again. What documents do I have to fax to them? I tried to call them but the answer machine said my phone number was wrong although it was the number I had registered to paypal.

    i had verified my paypal more than a year ago using maybank visa debit. but today i tried to make a paypal payment using my debit card, it cant get thru. anyone used maybank visa debit for payment in paypal already?
